Admit? Wasn't me but I wish I'd thought of it. I have his e-mail address since he bought from me. But when it first came up I didn't realize it had onlly been 3 days so I wondered if I should be worried about my sale. Sounds like a good buyer if he paid cheerfully after this. --Jerry

I am glad to hear that the OP got paid and the buyer was legit. I cannot figure out why someone here would contact the buyer and get involved in a deal that was not theirs. Apparently the OP did not ask for this kind of help. You gotta watch what you say on these forums because there are rats here.

Here we go again Tavern.(those squeeling rats on the board)image

This guys rep was being hurt, his ability to purchase was being interfered with. I didn't do it, but I am glad someone did. When an accusation is made against a person that person should have the opportunity to share his side or at least rectify the situation.

Aficionado was clearly in the wrong. Thanks for manning up and admitting you were wrong.

I think aficianado should edit the title of this thread to delete tomjohn222 name. Perhaps just edit it to read: An eBayer Player that ain't a Payer - issue resolved.

IMO he did jump the shark by quite a bit...but now that it's resolved there is no nead to leave the buyer's name out there as part of a negative thread title.

I'm confused -- why should be block the buyer, who paid within a week? Perhaps we should block the seller!

Well, I apologize for causing too much harm.

What can I say? My philosophy is just to be patient and wait a while for the bidder to pay.

I just found it ironic that someone would give advice when one does not necessarily follow it.

  • Wow this mans reputation got trashed around the world wide web for days and all he gets is a lot of slander from a lynch mob for no reason what about the people that read this thread and never followed up did this thread cause this man Damage to his reputation.

I had a buyer last year that mailed a USPS MO Dec 7th we went round and round for weeks I almost sent the coin off thinking i made a mistake and deposited it and not marked it on my books. I asked the buyer to send proof of me cashing and i would give him a ASE with his $5 AGE for his trouble if i was wrong he filed the MO as lost in the end. Two months later Feb 3 i received a letter from him post marked DEC 7th. i then returned it to him and told him gold was down in price and to go get a better deal this was part of his reply mail

"Hey Ryan thanks for the money order you got to be one of the most honest people i have encountered "

Obviously he was happy and i was glad all worked out well but it just goes to show it is not always the bidder

    just my .02 from experience
Why do you have to 'put your two cents in'... but it's only a 'penny for your thoughts'? Where's that extra penny going to?

Kudos to whomever did. This buyer was getting trashed for no other reason than an impatient seller making assumptions with no basis in fact.

It is outrageous that the buyer's name is still in the title of this ridiculous and defamatory thread.

Sellers who are too tightly-wrapped to wait 7 to 10 days for payment, need to
exit EBAY pronto. Or, they should use the "immeidate-payment-required" feature.

    Amazing.

No doubt there are plenty of rats around here. But, to me a rat is somebody who's running off to do damage to a forum member with a legit complaint, or reporting auctions for petty little violations. That wasn't the case here.

He's the NARU'd one if I recall? In that case, I think I'd cancel the deal. He got NARU'd way too quick, so that account smells hinky.

    Good Morning everybody!

    So lets review:

aficionado starts a thread to block an ebayer because "He didn't pay me "

aficionado apparently files an NPB on an ebayer because "He didn't pay me "

Auction end date turns out to be 5/27 at 18:00 yet aficionado hasn't been paid by Friday May 30, 2008 9:53 AM (less than three days)

aficionado never replies to queries as to how he determined the buyer wasn't going to pay.

aficionado states that he'll update the board on June 11th further validating that an NPB was filed

aficionado posts on Saturday May 31, 2008 1:11 AM that the buyer did pay

Since the buyer ended up NOT being the deadbeat that some of the lynch mob wanted to lynch, the mob now turns toward a "rat"?

Perhaps the Rat wanted to hear the buyers side of the story since the "mob" was only hearing once side of the story which inevitably turned out to be a slanderous assumption?

    image

I cannot tell a lie! My curiosity got the best of me and aficionado had obviously gone mute on the subject. I emailed the buyer asking what was up with this non payment business. His reply: "You are the second great ebayer that has informed me of the posting. It is simply not true. "

I invited him to join these forums to state HIS side of the story of which I am not ashamed to admit.

Perhaps the lessons that should be learned here is:

    1. Don't always believe what you read from a forum member especially if the story is one sided
    2. Don't randomly block an ebayer because of a single sided story. You could miss out on a great buyer
    3. Three days is not a long time to wait for payment. 7 days is reasonable, 10 days is gracious
    4. Think BEFORE you act and ultimately post

    Have a great day!

yep, he's the NARU'ed one. Should I second chance offer it or report it to ebay? Technically, he did pay. So I don't know the appropriate steps.

Both. File the UID and, since he's NARU'd, your FVF credit will be instant. Then second chance it.

<< <i>So, you had a buyer who won an auction three days ago and you're posting a thread accusing him of being a deadbeat simply because he's won a lot recently? I have a regular buyer who spends in excess of $500,000 a year buying coins on eBay.

Yep, my mistake. Thought I might be helping out. I was wrong.

<< <i>Over $10,000 in auction wins over the past month. Mostly Rev. 07's. He didn't pay me and he has a strike, hopefully everyone else gives him a strike. I've been thinking, maybe he's buying and if the price goes up, he'll buy them and flip. If the price doesn't go up, no pay.

BTW, this is my second no pay since the 'new' feedback rules went into effect. image

One thing I can see happening is that in the future when all ebay listings must require payment by PP, as soon as a listing ends payment will automatically be paid to or from your account and you will have no say in the matter.

1)I indicated earlier that I jumped the gun with this comment (when I found out that the auction only ended 3 days ago). Thanks for your late evaluation of my comment.

2)Personally I do not get involved in other people's business, no matter what.

3)I still think there are a lot of rats and squealers here. Especially the ones who run to EBAY to report any little violation.
