ANACS Grading Standards old slab VS new slab

Most collectors would agree that PCGS grading standards have become more relaxed over the years, but what about ANACS grading standards? would a coin in an old ANACS slab have a good chance of upgrading?

I don't think "most collectors" agree that PCGS has become relaxed over time, but to answer your question, if the coin in an old ANACS slab appears to be undergraded based on looking at it and a sample of coins graded within the last week, then it does have a good chance of upgrading. If the coin in an old ANACS slab is a dog, then it does not have a good chance at upgrading.

I have found many old ANACS holders are overgraded or not on Par with PCGS. I have found a few undergraded. In the new blue holders I have found the large font holders also overgraded. The newer blue small font holders are more strict imho.

I would think they would have a good chance of upgrading if submitted to NNC or SEGS image
But seriously though, I think ANACS with it's new ownership is probably overall tougher than they used to be, so I think you have a better chance of getting it downgraded, or graded as a 'problem' coin, if resubmitted to ANACS now. It looks like they are calling just about everything 'cleaned', even if the cleaning was light and done long ago, coins that are frequently graded as Ok by the Big Two.

Consider me as one of those collectors who believes PCGS's grading standards have relaxed over the years. However, within the last year, these standards appear to have improved.

I agree with you about the new ANACS "calling just about everything cleaned"! I recently sent them 8 coins and seven of the eight came back as cleaned. One was formerly graded by NGC (not cleaned) and cracked out to be put in an album....it came back with the same grade as NGC...but cleaned! The other coins (mostly gold) had very little evidence of hairlines worth mentioning!
