ANACS Grading Standards old slab VS new slab
Most collectors would agree that PCGS grading standards have become more relaxed over the years, but what about ANACS grading standards? would a coin in an old ANACS slab have a good chance of upgrading?

But seriously though, I think ANACS with it's new ownership is probably overall tougher than they used to be, so I think you have a better chance of getting it downgraded, or graded as a 'problem' coin, if resubmitted to ANACS now. It looks like they are calling just about everything 'cleaned', even if the cleaning was light and done long ago, coins that are frequently graded as Ok by the Big Two.

I agree with you about the new ANACS "calling just about everything cleaned"! I recently sent them 8 coins and seven of the eight came back as cleaned. One was formerly graded by NGC (not cleaned) and cracked out to be put in an album....it came back with the same grade as NGC...but cleaned! The other coins (mostly gold) had very little evidence of hairlines worth mentioning!
