1. What event in sports history do you wish you could have witnessed?
2. What event in history do you wish you could have witnessed?
(And if you did witness either event, awesome!)
Me? Tough call.
To question 1 ... Babe Ruth's "Called Shot" ... Wilt's 100 point game ... Michael Johnson's 19.32 in 200 meters (which I truly believe is the fastest a human being has ever moved) ... Jesse Owens at the 1936 Olympics?
To question 2 ... Moses parting the Red Sea (assuming it happened) ... Signing of the Declaration of Independence ... Assassination of J.F.K. ... Collapse of W.T.C.

Another thread complaining about ebay, PSA or some buyer who didn't pay on time or paid too little or didn't leave appropriate FB?
Sure threads get recycled - sometimes from newcomers but at least this was an attempt to engage the audience.
I don't think that was fair at all.

But alas not engaging enough to get a response from you to the OP's question.
It's not even that these threads are OT because many of them are not. It's that they just don't offer any information that in any way could be construed as valuable. If I started a thread titled "Check out these 1991 Donruss cards" and started similar threads every 2 hours, it would start to become tiring and pointless and people would tell me to stop starting these stupid threads. Whether one person is doing it or several, it's making the boards a complete mess and one needs to go to page 3 in order to find a thread that's in any way interesting or useful. I'm not trying to be the message board police, I just don't want to see this forum go in the direction that it's clearly heading.
Of course, maybe it's just my opinion, no one agrees with me and I'm being an a-hole. Wouldn't be the first time.

Actually, I was gonna respond until I read some of the posts.
I would've liked to have seen game 7 of the 1955 WS in person.
Historical is way too broad - don't really have anything right now.
I know you guys were just having some fun - and is "is" Saturday nite - I just think sometimes ya gotta be fair to someone who's trying to come up with a thread.
I've expressed this before - the ratio of ebay "how to" - PSA complaints - shipping complaints - is - at times - outweighing the information or participative threads.
Like I said - I don't want to make this a major issue or get into a flamer - I was just giving my opinion.
We owe each other here very little - but a big one is mutual respect.
I don't think you would be happy if someone trashed one of your threads?

I totally agree with that premise also.
I think the OTs - at times - get totally out of control. And to be honest - this thread is not in keeping with the spirit or mission of this forum. It belongs on the sports talk forum.
This thread did beg to be spoofed - and perhaps I'm being too sensitive - I just like to see people getting along.
I'm laying low on this one.

On the information side of the house? I fear there's some that don't particularly care to have their horizons expanded if ya know what I mean?
And that does have a Beckett-like feel to it.

VE/VJ days I can't even imagine how it must have felt to have finally ended the war. I also think it would have been very interesting to be a fly on the wall when the discussions of dropping the atomic bomb were planned and discussed.

A lot of people do not know it was almost 5 homers in that game , He missed the 5th homer by inches and when he came to the plate for the final time , even the Athletics fans at Shibe park were cheering him on to hit another , he wound up hitting the ball into the deepest part of the field , deep center .
That must have been some game !

although the signing, i believe that the actual signing was done in parts as reps were in and out of Philadelphia, i would have been in the city for the spring and summer 76.
