I noticed this listing on the Bay. I think I've seen other threads like it here on ocassion, but I just wanted to know if this is legal. Thats a heck of a shipping price.

Yeah, thats what I meant. I didn't think ebay would let people do this.

These should be reported, in my opinion.

The link to use for reporting problematic auctions

The number you'll have to put into that report...
    290227426039

Another auction, with even higher shipping charges...
    290227747491

You can also use the "Report an item" link at the bottom of the auction itself.

eBay will notify the seller and give them a chance to alter the auction...there is plenty of time. If the seller does not respond to eBay, then the auctions will get pulled, most likely.

A third one to report, for those so inclined. But this one is a bargain at only $50 for shipping (for each set, no combined shipping discount)

At the bottom of every auction listing is a link for reporting violations that works just as well.

I seriously doubt that some here even know about that, they would rather clutter the boards with this crap.

Lets see if they take the suggestion.

A seriously undetectable fraud is always a welcome post here, but wasting board space on a shipping charge is lame.

pontiacinf, I was simply interested in knowing if that was legal or not. I figured I would ask here since there are many knowledgeable people. I'm terribly sorry if I ruined your day by "cluttering the Board" with my question. If you hate threads like these, then why reply to them?

    Thanks to those who responded

Maybe he is reading these boards?

If so my advice/suggestion is he run the text through a spell checker before listing.

$10 shipping isn't terrible even though I get dinged for charging $3.95 (sheesh!). It is a steep asking price.

I hear you brother. I used to purposely lose on shipping (I still do with Reggies) and I was still getting dinged so I just charge slightly over shipping to cover gas to P.O. Heck if they are gonna ding me at least I break even.

ILikeMercs hit the nail on the head. The shipping charges isnt a big deal. You might get a notice from ebay stating that your shipping charges are higher than similar items, but the real issue is images of the front and back of the slab. They should be ended immed iately according to their rules. I actually did get a notice from ebay for high shipping charges, but my charges were only $7.00, it was for an item over $150....insured shipping with signature/delivery confirmation (yeah, there have been a couple of times I DID pay out more on shipping then I charged, but I like to cover my butt for those that will file disputes for non delivery, etc...). Bottom line with shipping charges, if you dont like them, then dont bid....but if its something you REALLY need/want, I dont think a high shipping charge is going to stop you from bidding...

edited to add: I FULLY agree that the seller is a lurker.

Some members of this board apparently have nothing better to do than squeel to EBAY for any minor violation. Very lame. I guess there are rats everywhere.

These threads never cease to amaze me. How come no one's complaining about shipping charges by Heritage, Teletrade, PCGS, and other online sellers (some of whom post on this board) whose shipping charges are out of sight!?!

The shipping charge in the auction now is not what the shipping charge was when the OP posted this thread.

As Russ said...the original shipping charge was $149.95 in one auction, $139.95 in another auction and $49.95 in a third auction. These are for items that would cost $15 or so to mail in nice packaging, fully insured.

That is way, way out of line. That is not a shipping charge. It's not shipping/handling/insurance. It is questionable behavior and sellers who circumvent rules like this are the ones to beware of.

It is at the same level of those awful Chinese scammers who not only charge outrageous shipping (for bars of lead).
