Is this 1970-S Kennedy Proof DCam...

Ok, I know that it is a widget. I have a difficult time figuring out Cameo and DCameo designations so I thought that I would ask for your opinions.

Is this a DCam Proof?

Is that a forst break near Kennedy's temple, or just a shadow?

If it's just a shadow, I'd say that it has a nice shot at DCAM. If it is a frost break, then it'd say it's only a CAM.

I would say definitely not DCAM, but with a good shot at CAM. Just for the sake of comparison, here's one I submitted a couple of years ago that didn't even get the CAM designation, your coin looks like it has similar frost breaks on the eagle's wings and shield:

Doesn't look like it to me, but then you can never be sure about the picture and how well it captures the frost.

I think it has a good chance.

These can be tough to tell from a picture though. The amount of frosting on the lettering is usually a good sign for how it appears in hand.

I wish I could help. Here are two coins I submitted that I thought were both DCAMS:

    Sold both.

    This is a "shot" DCAM:

It would get the designation about 50% of the time.

What would stop it Russ? ...Insufficient degree of frosting?

Dang that is one nice Kennedy. I wish I could find one like that for my 1970 year set.

I don't think the OP coin would grade even CAM.

Might be just the lighting but it doesn't have the look.

Russ' coin might go CAM. image I'll take it if you have no use for it Russ. image

Cam at best - no dcam on that one.
