OH COME ON!!!
My local Cottonwood, AZ. coin dealer's help at his antique/coin store in Jerome paid hundreds of dollars for these "coins." HOW is this possible??? He's supposed to be in the know as far as coins go and I would think, if nothing else, that a 1903 Silver Eagle would tip him off. Take a look at the "Trade Dollar." Ever seen anything like it? The 1882 "Morgan" is a CC mint.
The "dollar coins" all weigh between 19.0 and 19.2 grams and the one ounce "Silver Eagle" weighs 21.3 grams.

Now selling coins like this...that is something that dealers have been jailed for...
Now please excuse me; I have work to do. I must dremel off a few annoying tails on my 2008 ASEs.
NOW, if the guy that took those in and paid for them, if he's 'in the know', maybe you should chat with the dealer about taking the part time position that should be available.
<< <i>Not to be bigoted, or stereotypical, but....was the person that sold those to him of oriental descent? My point being, perhaps instead of selling from china or hong kong, perhaps they are just bringing them here and selling them. >>
No...it was a woman with kids that had an "emergency."

I don't understand why he didn't at least ask for I.D. before making the buy. That's standard operating procedure.
I couldn't accept a job working with the public. I don't play well with others.

Those are ridiculous!

Looks to me like the brother made some shrewd one of a kind purchases.

Yes, we know.
My counterfeit collection would go over really big there. I've got almost every variety of fugio coins never made.
Obviously business is booming.
TD (the original TD)!

Probably steel too.

I don't believe this stuff; my heart has been hardened from these scammers.
LOL.
The only thing missing is the one that looks like a giant fake washington quarter with an 18something date. Well, maybe not the only one missing...
<< <i>Ask him to put a magnet to them.
Probably steel too. >>
They appear to be pewter or something of that sort. Non-magnetic.
<< <i>I've been to Jerome - I'm still trying to get over the fact that there is a coin store there. >>
Since my coin guy had rented a store up there to sell antiques and jewelry to the tourists he decided to put a bunch of coins in there also. He actually did pretty well with coins.
