How sad is this?

I think it is pretty sad. I usually laugh at these, but this time, I am sensing deep pain and anguish.

It's sad, but I see it all the time. Especially when I'm working at the local B&M.

"Poor man made poorer by buying these from TV"

I've seen a lot of overpriced coins sold via TV sales, but never in Coin World holders; IMO this auction is as fake as the story.

    You can't be serious?

TV Coin hawkers don't sell self graded coins in Coin World (Amos Advantage) holders!

    Scammers do though...........

This dude is simply trying a new scam approach that addresses folks pity for his supposed "stupidity" when the real stupid one will be the high bidder in this scammer's game.

"Do not get sniped......Bid now !

Do not wait to snipe ! If you do not bid I will never know about your interest in this lot.

People call me every day looking for great deals like this and they visit my office weekly.

If someone wants to buy it before your bid is heard it would be a shame because I will end it and sell it without even knowing about you. "

I actually was shocked at the sellers' relative honesty. I have no doubt that some sort of TV seller sold "INB" graded slabs. Now, if he listed it with an outrageous BIN and lied about the coins, that would be another story. Sometimes you guys are such provincial purists image

This same seller has an auction for...

    35 Saints!!!

Some of them do not look good to me. This is NOT how I would buy one Saint, let alone a box of them!!!

100% there is shill bidding going on on that sellers auctions! I just analyzed a couple and it is obvious. 10 to 1 the next bid brings them over the "reserve".

    Nuff said about this seller!

Kinda reminds me of Kenny and Bluemoon Coins.

  • I like the no motto oh eight Saint in the NGC no line holder....

Oh it has a motto...duh... Me still likes it.

  • Steve27, I thought the same thing before I got to your post, after reading the auction, seeing those slabs....KNOWING I have NEVER seen a CoinWorld slab on TV (though, I get cable, and cant get 'Coin Country', so not sure if CW slabs are pushed there), I have NEVER seen CW slab on SAH, QVC, HSN, ShopNBC, NOWHERE..they are always NGC (mostly), ICG, ANACS, sometimes PCGS, but NEVER CW. This story is BS, the worst kind of BS, as they are trying to get more bidding for a non-existent 'poor old man made poorer'.

adamlaneus, it IS sad, as you have shown us how low a dealer will go to peddle their overgraded, fraudulent crap. Is this the same Anthony's that is a big CW advertiser also??? I do think so......

INB ceritfied, all are MS 70 and PR 70.
  • adamlaneusadamlaneus Posts: 6,969 ✭✭✭
    Look closely. Some are 69s.

    Borrowing from another thread...

Here is a case where I suspect there is no real difference between 69s and 70s.

    Borrowing from yet another thread...

I heard that 2007 nickels are worth $100.35. I think I see a few! This auction might be worthwhile after all!

A fool and his/her money are soon parted..... I feel a tinge of sadness for someone that might buy this lot (if anyone bids over the shills), however, that feeling of remorse is overcome by the fact that people who do not take the time to learn about what they are buying, will not learn until they have been burned by the con artists. Cheers, RickO

Most of these coins are INB certified pocket change in CoinWorld holders

Look what I found on eBay:

"INB ( International Numismatics Bureau ) is a fellow ( with questionable eyesight ) up in Minnesota who grades his own coins according to his own solitary opinion. I know because I spoke with him two days ago by phone and he admitted such. He is not bonded or insured. He is not a corporation. He seemed quite puzzelled as to how I got his phone number but I never told him. And when I asked what "Certified" meant on his label he replied, "Not much!" I too purchased a lot of unseen coins for about a hundred and fifty dollars and when I opened the box there was no invoice and boy was I disappointed with what I got! Common coins in a Coinworld holder with a lazerjet printed label that read,"INB Certified." A set of proofs had a quarter in it that was a different year from the other coins in the slab and was mislabeled as well! All of the coins were modern clad coins except for a 1955 silver dime that was graded ms70! Whooo Hooo!! It might go as a ms65- MAYBE! My full refund including 45.00 dollars for shipping is on the way back home. Buyers beware!!"
