XF45 to me but I have seen similar in AU50 holders. I doubt it would be BB'ed.

XF45, I do not think it will ever get into an AU50 holder, but I could be wrong.
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

  • 45, looks to have had its surfaces altered. Given the lower mintage of the coin however, I think it would slab.

    Hint,,,Hint,,,Hint,,,

    1. It is in a slab
    2. It has not been Cac'ed
    3. There is no evidence of surface alteration
    4. Perhaps dipped, or perhaps not
    5. It is not a "First Strike"
    6. It is not a "Satin Finish"
    7. There is luster in the crevices
    8. No one will give an estimated value?

    EF details, cleaned.

It looks dipped. But that hasn't produced as many bodybags for that date as one might expect, at leats in the past. I don't see signs of abrasive cleaning.

40-45.... angle/lighting do not allow for good surface evaluation... could be cleaned.. maybe not... Cheers, RickO

A cleaned XF is worth about $300-400 I'd say. If it is in a top tier slab as XF40 it's worth maybe $550 and XF45 maybe $650. The dipped look of the coin makes it worth a bit less than a more natural coin.

Here is mine. Pcgs graded it 35. I think they are pretty close to each other in grade.

That would be the cleaning, net 35/40 leaning to the former and BB from PCGS...

I see you are still seeking value opinions, so I will offer mine....Value is of course relative, and will depend on your venue of sale. XF Bid is $575, and VF20 Bid is $450. I think these bid prices are a little high relative to the real market, as I think this date is more common than some people think. I also think the market is somewhat soft for Morgans, and it's not supporting the run up in bid prices seen over the past several years. I can testify that I bought 3 slabbed 95O's in a no reserve Superior Galleries auction and paid well under Bid levels for them, including the juice. Given the appearance of this coin, I would think if you get offered near Bid values, take it and run. But it also depends on your need to sell it. If you are in no hurry, offer it around or put in auctions with the reserve you want, and see if anyone bites.
    Good luck either way.

The coin is mine. I've had it for about 8-9 years. It's in an ICG holder graded EF-40.
I've always considered it to be a bit higher than it's stated grade.
Thank you to all who have expressed an opinion about this coin.
