Poll: How many coins are in your collection?

sumnomsumnom Posts: 5,963 ✭✭✭
How many coins do you have in your collection. Don't count your coffee cans full of pennies. I'm not talking about accumulations. I mean coins that you have actively acquired as part of your collecting interests.

I guess if you can count all of those bags of wheaties lying around, then definitely more than 1000. Probably like 30k+.

For the stuff that really means something, then maybe about 100.

I have never taken a full inventory of my collection but I would guess it to be something like 1500-2000.

Quality over quantity, I see. As I have started to mature as a collector I am seeing the wisdom in this approach.

    I chose 100-200.

Five "Box of 20's", my 7070, and some odds and ends make about 200.

I'm right at about 35. Mostly key dates or other coins I find "cool." No sets of 7070s for me. Although I am starting to see the draw of a nice, circulated 7070 album...

I chose the 501-1000 bracket. Doesn't feel that way, but once I add up the coins in a couple of albums, it breaks the 500 mark. Just Lincoln cents minus proofs from 1909-present is over 250 coins.

I only included those coins I consider to be in my core collection and in my case they are all slabbed by TPG's. If I include all my excess and rolls the numbers get mind boggling.

I need to change my vote - i actually voted for 201-500 before I pulled up my spreadsheet and I have well over 1,000 coins currently and counting... most are copper world coins, as the only american that I have left are silver roosies and toned proof jeffersons. this does not include the hoard of low-grade buffs and bags of wheaties....

gotta cull this collection down to a reasonable set one of these days....image

I was never really into the 7070 thing - until recently. The idea is starting to intrique me. I have a feeling I will start one in the not-to-distant future.

I chose 200-500 but am working diligently this year to get it to 20-30 but might settle for 60 since that is how many my intercept shield box will hold.

used to be over 1000. Rolls of wheats, prf sets , mint stuff etc. Sold 90% of it over the last five years. Now I have about 100 NGC and PCGS worth more than what all that "stuff" combined was.

My collection consists exclusively of United States half dimes, of all series, and presently numbers 1,840 pieces, each with its own unique accession number, each duly entered into a database, and with only a few exceptions, there is no duplication, as I collect them not only by date and mint, but also by die marriage and die state, as well.

That's less than $100 face value.

100-200 range. 75% of them are Barber Halves with about 90% of those in PCGS holders in grades ranging from F to XF. The others are a few Liberty Nickels, A couple IHC, some Barber Quarters and two patterns.

My coin software says 1284 coins. I also have a few old buffalos and wheaties that aren't counted. Of course, most of these coins fall into my dansco's.

I'm currently only avidly collecting proof IHC's. Those with all of the other widgets I'm not that excited about (at least numismatically) amount at the high end of the poll.
