If the Fed goes under. I for one, will be dancing in the street! As RR has pointed out they are an illegitimate org whose main contribution has been to run the $ into the ground. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

It will not to be economy that dooms but the environment. Also maintaining are superpower status could also be are downfall. Half the budget goes to defense. I have to work until March just to pay my share for the Iraq blunder. What kind of twisted upside down bizzaro world are we living in.

From what I understand, if the FEDs fail, the general economy would go way before them as they own this country! Interest rates would rise to unprecedented levels and every company in the country would be on the brink of bankrupcty. Jobs would simply not exist and the country would be thrown into a severe depression similar to the 1930's!

The Federal Reserve Bank is a privately owned Bank that lends money to the Federal Government on an "as needed basis" and they are no more a part of the Federal Government than Federal Express is.

I don't trust people that don't drink. Sorry!

Radical Muslims and born again Christians are a little too much for me. Those that do not drink may be better off health-wise but they, in my view, are afraid of what they might say with a little alcohol in them. Alcohol lets it all out, good and bad (do I really have to go through all this, hell, look at me) and I have been screwed in my business by those that were TOO GOOD to drink but not too good not to try to swindle me. Like I said, non-drinkers are NEVER to be trusted. Ever! Period! End of story! They will sell you undergraded coins to your face and sell you crap if you happen to smell of booze. Beware!!!

Dustycoinbox said it and if you think about it its true. The Federal Reserve Bank is owned by "bankers". Their sole job is to make money and the Federal Government enables them to do just that.

They typically are allowed to loan more money than the actually have on deposit. For me, it would be illegal if I were to have say a million on tap and then loan out 10 million of it via printing my own currency bu that is exactly what the Federal Reserve Bank does except it's primary customer is the Federal Government. As a matter of fact, private citizens can no longer do transactions with the Federal Reserve Bank, only member banks are allowed this luxury.

Why? Because you are SO MUCH better?

You are who you are and rarely does someone truly repent. Only if it makes them "seem" to be a "better" person in the eyes of those they respect. Anyone that was controlled by this beast and has since conquered this has my total respect and more so. If this is not the case then don't preach to me as a little firewater keeps the sinuses’ clear.

Most of us are simply shadows and dust anyway.

Each bank that becomes a member has to buy shares of stock in the fed. The 12 Federal reserve banks are quasi-public banks which blend private ownership and public control. Each Federal Reserve Bank is owned by the private commercial banks in it's district.

What kind of twisted upside down bizzaro world are we living in.

Um, you DO have a point. We've been on a slippery slope long enough that when you start thinking about where we are in relation to where we started, it seems bizzare.

However, in terms of relativity - when we compare where we are now with where we were yesterday, it seems pretty normal.

So, does that mean nobody has enough common sense left to be truly scared of what is now the status quo?

Or, does it mean that the status quo is simply the normal progression of societal development?

In answer to that hypothetical question, I can only say that I continue to buy PMs. I guess that means that I am not only a conservative, but a reactionary.

    Who'd have ever guessed?

Actually, the bailouts of wall street investment banks as well as people who for one reason or another have become upside down in their houses/properties is happening without so much as a peep from our "representatives" in Congress.

Hence, everyone here WILL work more years of their lives now to pay the taxes ( whther directly or indirectly ) which will be implemented to support a whole new wave of strangers and companies with this even deeper thrust into a more socialist environment here in the US.

That's not capiltalism or freedom or within the basic ideas that formed this country.

I believe we are in the "me generation". This is exactly what Congress is conveying through their fiscal policies. We won't be paying for our mistakes but it will be the next generation that will take on the burden we are causing now.

We won't? So "we"re" not paying more in taxes? Not having to deal with a higher cost of living because of fed policy? Really?

IF the Fed were to go under, I would assume that Walras law would become reality.

In short, folks will not worry about portable wealth as defined by gold or silver. Exchange items or bartar would be things like, water, food, fuel, guns etc

The circumstances for the FED to go under would cause an incredible public reaction.

"the FED goes under" is kind of an oxymoron, isn't it?

interesting debate topic, i suppose but IF it did there would be anarchy and a surge in militia sales.

Have assets that are undervalued and are desirous of those with strengthening foreign currencies to buy.

Yeah, I figured it was something like that. When people say that it's a privately owned company and so forth, the implication is that it's being run by the gnomes of Zurich or some secret cabal bent on world conquest. The reality, as is usually the case, is much more banal.

the federal reserve really won't go under, because central banks run the world, they control governments, and have for a very, very long time now.

The problem won't get blamed on fractional reserve central banking, it will be blamed on us for taking on too much debt.. after all, nobody held a gun to our heads and forced us to take on debt.

But we are bankrupt.... if you've got money in banks and think the FDIC is going to save your ass.. well short term treasuries are your friend.. or perhaps foreign currencies.

The FED is probably already bankrupt just like all the other large banks and investment brokerages. They just won't admit it yet. So how can the FED go under again???

In any case since the FED prints worthless money for our obligations, why not just do this ourselves and keep the interest? What difference does it make? We can print up a few hundred billion dollars for ourselves just as good as the FED tells the treasury to do. We can hit the same key strokes at US banks to provide instant money as well. What's the big deal? The FED doesn't operate for profit? That may be true if you don't consider taking over all the world's financial assets and gold to be be "profitable?" FED=JPM=Goldman=Barrick=Bilderbergs=Carlyle Group=...........????

    Who owns the FED?

Big....Old-time.....Money. Think Rothschilds, Warburgs, Morgans, Old London town, Rockefellers, etc. This is the real money behind the Federal Reserve. Europe and England in general were tickled pink to get control over the US's currency in 1913 after losing it in the 18th century.

Jobs would simply not exist and the country would be thrown into a severe depression similar to the 1930's!

Let's not forget that without the FED, there would have been no massive over-indulgence in liquidity and credit in the 1916-1929 period and hence no great depression. The FED caused it. So to suggest that losing the FED at this point would result in a depression is truly ironic. Things are so hosed up because of their antics over the past 15 years that we get to a depression/severe deflation with them or without them. How strange is that?

Dr. Fekete chimes in on the FED and the great depression

Interesting article with some great quotes by Warburg (1935), President Garfield, and American Banker's Assoc. president (1956) about the evils of the FED. It is quite striking on what Garfield stated in the 1800's as it perfectly foretold what a FED-entity could and would do. Who'd have thunk a yellow cat could be so smart?
Even some snippets from FDR before he got in office that hinted that he talked out the side of his mouth about gold only to do just the opposite once in office (didn't even wait 90 days to can gold).
