I may make it to the Willimantic, CT show this Sunday, it's run by the local coin club I belonged to when I was a student at UConn. I may even drag the family along, since it's a nice time of year to visit that part of the state.

If I make it to Santa Rosa it would definitely be on Sunday. The Redwood Empire show is a good local show and I have inquired about renting a bourse table, but there is a long waiting list. The only negatives about the show is that since it's held in a steel building at a fairgrounds the interior lighting isn't great and the restrooms are small and antiquated without any running hot water. Regardless of when this show is scheduled during the year it always seems to rain heavily although according to weather forecasts that may finally change this year.

I went to this show last month and was able to find 2 Bust Half dollars that I needed.

Its not a huge show, maybe 20 dealers. I would be going to it but I'm helping out with the coin club auction the same day......

Going to the Van Nuys, CA show tomorrow. First coin show for me in about 20 years!!!!!!!!!!

Went to the Timonium, MD show today.

Not much traffic, but I enjoyed myself with the personal attention I received.

I bought a 1902 and1907 Indian cent in Gem BU.

I also bought a 1909-VDB in Gem BU.

Did I get a good deal? The coin dealer is happy and I'm happy, that's all that matters.

Alan, do you have the J. Reeves Website????

If not here you go...........JJR Link

Wow I live in Winchester and have never made it to the show. I have been working weekends for the past year or so but by July I will have them free again. I hope to see some of you at future shows.

Van Nuys, CA show today was packed with people. Lots of good coins, some of them were even decently priced!!! Had door prizes but didn't win any. I had a couple of slabbed coins with me to sell and noticed when I was asking for prices on their slabbed coins they were quoting prices near those of the PCGS price guide, but when I was looking to sell, they just grabbed the greysheet which has much much lower prices on most coins. Not all of the dealers were like this, but I do know they have to make a living too.

Didn't sell anything cause I think I could do better on the BST or eBay, but I did buy a very nice looking 1931-S Buffalo Nickel slabbed in MS65 which will look great in my 7070 set. Will have to learn to take pictures one of these days.

I did realize that I really need to learn how to grade higher grade coins if I want a good bargain. I just can't make myself spend around $500 or more on a raw coin even if I love the look since I really can't tell MS64 vs. MS65. If I'm wrong and the dealer isn't telling me the right grade, that one point could really cost me on some these coins. Especially with copper and the BN, RB and RD designations just makes the grading that much harder. I guess I have become dependent on PCGS and NGC for anything in MS. Oh well... just didn't end up buying several coins at great prices (assuming the dealers' grades were accurate!) because of that.
