up 350 and buyers still rolling in 20 minutes before the closing bell. The sky is falling here in southern IL, but in the form of 4" of rain the last 15 hours. Gold is down though. Looks like people moving money from metal to stocks.
Oh woh is me. The sky is falling, the sky is falling.
Can I interest you in a bomb shelter? Fully stocked. Real cheap. Gold up front please.
I think I am a lot more worried about the unfortunate racial fallout over Senator Obama and the things that have come up in the last couple weeks. We seem to have come to a great divide that few of us thought possible in this day and age. I recommend everyone not get caught up in this and that you consider leveraging precious metals to hedge against what might end up being a trickier recovery then I anticipated.
It's really time to start some permanant bans again these people who post cryptic or sentationalized topics (with LOTS OF CAPS and lots of !!!!!!!!) which have NOTHING to with coins, or bumping up some dead horse topic from 2 or 3 years ago for some more beating.

Although it is off-topic, I consider this to be news that impacts us all and as such think it's tolerable. Certainly we should not condone topics that are less than news worthy, but this topic is pretty big and does impact the coin market in various ways ... so isn't as off-topic as one might think (in my opinion that is, I certainly could be wrong).
And if you think this is bad, another thread right now is debating whether or not the Spanish Inquisition was a good thing or not. Those are the threads that go *POOF* as they generate a lot of heat without adding any value.

<< <i>To me this topic is more coin related than complaining about Ebay and their fees... >>
Just because YOU don't buy coins on ebay, and aren't affected by their fees, doesn't mean that applies to the rest of us. Plenty of us lower income folks buy on ebay, as well as sell our dupes, and it is nice to know things about ebay/coins/fees.

You can make any news something that impacts all. So we have some clown who is basically standing on a street corner with a sign the "end is near" and that is somehow news worthy for this forum. All of these clowns should be banned.
I suspect everyone (or nearly everyone) here uses toilet paper. I guess we could start threads on that and it would be on topic to you. Maybe they should ban you as well.

What are you so angry about? Coins, especially modern bullion coins, are intimately tied to gold, tied to the dollar, tied to interest rates and the stock market. This type of thread interests many, many coin collectors here. And frankly, I'm sure some don't post for fear of being slammed by you or Bochiman. Two dissenters make a vocal minority, not a majority. Have you ever noticed how you are frequently the first to post on a thread you don't like? This thread had ZERO to do with coins. Most people make a bogus attempt to make it appear to be related (as you did in your post here and the off topic golf post a while back), but the OP did nothing of the sort.
Selling coins has everything to do with coins, yet they are not allowed here. No matter how hard people tried to make them allowed, they never have been.
How about if I start looking for people to come work with me? Jobs are quite related to collecting (since you have to buy them). Would that be okay. Where do you draw the line since everything is related to someone who collects one way or another.

Bear Stearns was suppsed to pay the State of California about 1 billion in bond refinancing, now JP Morgan has assumed/bought B.S. by order of the FED. B.S. shareholders are sueing. Another 300 million is due in another week to the State of California.
A week a go....B.S. said things are cool you will get your money (something like that)......LAST WEEK.
oh yeah things are rosy especially with all the smoke and mirrors in the room. what will happen AFTER the FED goes down to ZERO??? there is over 1/2 a quadrillion (yes a Q) USD in this debt crap worldwide. Wall Street is only putting on a show and peeing in their pants at the same time.

A masterful performance by the FED and JPM and Goldman. Where else can you take the banking sector from imminent collapse, crank up the dollar, buy BSC for a $2/sharel, dump gold $50, all after a 0.75% rate cut. Just amazing. And a 16% gain today in GS (a nearly insolvent company). It just doesn't get any finer that this. Bernanke's finest hour by far. The sheeple bought it hook line and sinker. If BSC were still alive they'd be buying them as well. The FED left some tracks though because they forget to dump Platinum, Copper and Palladium while they were shorting gold (oops...but you can't claim Ben for that oversight with all he had on his plate). Yup, only gold and silver got hit on this one. Even Fannie and Freddie were up 27% and they too are essentially bankrupt. Guess Ben fixed the banks and brokerages with this single rate cut. Attaboy HeloMan. The recovery is here. Sell your hard assets and hop on board before those bank stocks are at all time highs once again.
And as Bear said, by Friday, the gains will be gone, another bank will be tanking, and gold will be flying over $1000.
Just to be fair, Aluminum is down about 9%, copper down 8%, gasoline down 8%, natgas down 11%, palladium down 19%, and platinum down 14% in the past week.
While I do not believe the equity markets are going to test highs anytime soon, this rally does have some legs and will probably continue for another 5% or so over the coming weeks. We do not have corporate earnings for another 4 weeks, so the market has time to catch its breath before signs of the slowdown are evident in the earnings reports.
Like many here, I do have a lower target on the DOW, but it wont be in the next few weeks.
Oh, and before everyone gets on me about gasoline being down, I am talking futures prices. It will take a few weeks before it is reflected at your local gas station. And you wont notice a full 8% decline because taxes make up a large part of the price and we all know they aint gonna drop taxes.
I read somewhere that all the bad economic things are making out good for coins..money parked on the sidelines looks for stable areas..Heritage still getting good bids
Sell your hard assets and hop on board before those bank stocks are at all time highs once again.
And to think that I sold almost all of my stocks (including SLV) on Monday afternoon, thinking that I was lucky to get out and to salvage my cumulative position.
Should I be sorry that I missed a 400+ up day? Nah, I got worried about the oils and SLV was bothering me. Why push my luck?
The fundamentals are basically the same. Market psychology is but perception, and perceptions are being manipulated by the Fed these days. But, it doesn't change the inflation picture or the overall derivatives liability overhanging the economy. That will take months, maybe years - to resolve.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
well id rather be collecting sports cards & coins. than paying $5.29 for a gallon of milk. or $4 a gallon of gas. oh and dont get me started on these jamokeys runnin for president.
