Suspicious looking 1916-D Mercury Dime -- Altered 1936-D?
Actually, looks like a rather schlock alteration -- incredibly it has 14 bids up to $530. But you know what P.T. Barnum said . . . . .

last year sometime i got scammed on a "proof" indian from a guy in i think it was north carolina...by the time the coin arrived the paint was chipping off to reveal an AU coin
<< <i>Reported. And I e-mailed the seller. It's always fun to read the responses. >>
if you get a response, post it here
ah the bay
I sent this message to this This is an OBVIOUSLY altered coin-probably an altered 1936-D. You would do well to remove the listing since I'm sure you don't want someone to get burned and especially since you have no return policy.
<< <i>We at buyerselite are not graders or authenticaters so please do not ask me to say whether this or any other coin we sell is authentic >>
Selling coins since atleast 2001 and still has no clue. Yea...Right. Some of the sellers on eBay make me puke and puke and puke and puke. How can a person type descriptions about coins when they have two coins in front of them like this puke did? One of the two is fake for sure and the person cannot see the difference. Puke, Puke and more Puke.

<< <i>I sent this message to this dishonest seller. We'll see what his reply is. Of late I've seen an obvious non-proof 1936 Buffalo sell for $800 and a number of obviously altered 3 legged Buffs that sold for several hundred dollars. These ignorant buyers must assume a lot of the responsibility for this stuff, too.

nice going and good move - obviously bogus - the date is totally out of whack and altered - as stated before by many on this forum - NEVER BUY RAW KEY DATES ON EBAY!!!

The other has an added mint mark.

Made it easy for everyone, just copy and paste
<< <i>We at buyerselite are not graders or authenticaters so please do not ask me to say whether this or any other coin we sell is authentic or if you think our grades ar too high or too low as it is only our opinion on such coins....As with all our auctions all estate items are sold as is with no returns and I mean dont even ask because the answer is NO!

Not really. eBay rules do not allow fake coins to be listed. If the coin is fake I believe he must accept a return and issue a full refund regardless of what he says in his description. Correct me if I'm wrong.
<< <i>This one has an altered date. Note the style of the 9.

Which coin are you talking about? The one coin appears to have the right reverse for a 1916 coin. The 9 is very hard to make out on my monitor and could be just a poor picture. The portion shown here appears to be correct for the 1916 design but is blurry also. Either way the coin is damaged and a better example could be found.

Thanks, we are having the coin looked at by a local daeler again since there was another person saying the same thing. Coin will be taken off until found out to be real.. Thaks again!!
All well that ends well.
