    I too am among the ranks of those wondering, why melt coins that are already assayed .999 pure gold and weigh exactly a half ounce each??

    Melt them all. Commems, Morgans, Peace dollars etc.... At some point there will be some serious melting of common stuff.

    I would guess @ $35 lines will be forming at every B&M around the country.

    I'm not melting anything.

    I would much rather see the SLICK Barbers, or other worn out coins in my "junk silver bag" go to the pot than a pretty NEW ASE.
