How often to "regular" collectors find a valuable coin? Oh, and IT'S A BOY

I am not talking about those weirdo's that look through thousands and thousands of coins, I am talking about you and me, the normal folks
Have you ever found a valuable coin either in circulation or in a collection you bought but didn't know the coin was included? If so, please tell us about it.
I have dreams about finding very valuable coins and not just one or two, I mean like hundreds of them.
The most valuable coin I have ever found is probably an 1867 IHC in good condition. I got it in a penny collection I bought a few years back. I think I ended up with about 50 rolls of pennies from the mid 1800's to 1977. Most were BU.
My wife and I found out today our first born is going to be a boy, due July 31!

collections. I always ask the sellers what they want for their "collection". Many times I'm surprised with
values that are way under what they should be. I explain that they are worth more than they are asking,
and then give them what I'd normally pay for the lot. Once in a while I get "well that's what I want, and
if you'll pay that then we have a deal" type statement. No arguement from me. I think that some of the
older generation had great values. My father used to say, "take some and leave some for the next guy".
I didn't always understand that statement but now as I'm in my 60's it does make some more sense. With
coins we have to remember that some of the collectors got them for dollar on dollar and that is their total
investment. 500 silver dollars = $500 back in the 50's and early 60's. I've posted a few of the keepers
here on the board and they include a 93s morgan, pcgs VF30; a 94 morgan, pcgs AU58, a 1905 quarter
eagle, pcgs MS65. Of course I sent them for grading but purchased them raw.
Now, put the other shoe on and see if it fits. I've bought collections that have contained counterfeits in
the same manner. Ate my lunch on those. Paid great money for a 93cc, $5; 1914D cent and plenty of
others that fail to come to mind at the moment (thank God). So, yes I've been lucky in both ways. It
probably evens out in the long run.

Ooops, edited to say CONGRATULATIONS on the child!
No never found that coin yet. I had to pay el primo for the good stuff.
of 1884-P MS62/3 Morgans at a weekly Estate Auction House in
Washington DC. That's $4000 in coins in a $500 roll of 20.
My son at age 10, pulled a 1908 s indian out of the dealers junk box..paid about $2.00. Dealer never knew a thing.
A few years later, he sees a Isabella quarter in a junk shop, talks the guy down from $65 to $60, sells it on ebay for $160
My best score is a 1936 $ red DDO type 2 Lincoln off Ebay, paid $9, worth $1500.
So yes, they are out there, just keep looking and keep your eyes wide open!

I bought a full uncut sheet of $1.00's from the treasury for about $60, looked at them a few years later and found it was the "I 1A" error sheet. I have been offered $1500 for the sheet. I still have it!
The most valuable find I've had was a 1981S T2 SBA in a roll of dollars I got to put in the kids stockings for christmas. It was likely a PR55 or so, as it had a slight amount of wear, but still, a solid $100 or so coin.
Examples for me include:
1. Finding Cameo and DCAM proof and SMS coins from 1950-70 in proof and SMS sets from that era;
2. Finding a 1914D cent in fine and a 1909S cent (woodgrained look with multiple colors) in MS condition (64, shot 65) at a B&M store and was able to purchase both coins at $100.00 each;
3. Finding an old Whitman slide album of MS Jeffersons from 1938-1961 at a B&M, with many toned coins, at a B&M that I bought for about $100.00. After looking through the coins I found a 1945 DDR silver war nickel that is worth much more than the $100.00 I paid for the set; and
4. Finding an old Whitman slide album of MS silver Roosevelts at a B&M, with many wildly toned coins (similar to the toned Roosies pictured by the toned Roosie fanatics on the Registry Set Forum) that I bought for about $100.00.
All you have to do is look.
