Here is a ?medal? i picked up at an antique store for a very very nice
price. I always enjoy things in their original packaging and I thought
it would make a nice giveaway for a forum member who wishes to
try for it.
I will simply ask you to post to this thread. The order you post to it
is your entry. For example, the first post below mine is #1 and so on.
I will use this website to punch in the number of posters 1 through X
and ask it to spit out the randomly generated number (winner).
It is now 7:28 pm eastern and i will end it at the same time tommorrow. The winner will be posted Friday evening.
Thank you everyone for making this forum such a great place to communicate.

Robert.

Count me in. I had my doubts about your project when you first showed up and announced it (I mean, $5 Libs? who wouldn't!) but you've been good to your word. Kudos to you. That's a hell of an undertaking.
Anyway, thanks. You're one of the good eggs.
Thanks

60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
I am researching all the derivations of the Dunsmore image, and this is the first time I've seen this one, although I knew about it. Here are my notes on this medal:
AO-404. Bronze medal. Obverse view of the 4th U.S. Mint, below the Liberty Bell. Reverse depiction of Dunsmore’s Inspecting, as on United States mint medal No. 705 (AO-403). Distributed at the U.S. Mint exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center Bicentennial Exposition, 1976. Unseen by this author, although at least 15,000 were struck. Issue price one dollar [New York Times 7/11/1976].
This medal was repackaged with the 40 percent silver bicentennial coinage and presented as an ANA Convention souvenir set, purchase price ten dollars, at the 1976 New York ANA Convention [New York Times 8/22/1976]. Unseen by this author.
Based on the packaging, I'm guessing they sold these at the Mint store in Philadelphia as well.
If anyone has either of these items I am a ready buyer.
Thanks!
I'm in.
