1820 Large Cent / Randall Hoard..........."-)

Looking for opinions on this Large Cent and Grade if you please...
The thing on the cheek kind of bothers a bit, looks to be in the coin...
Some type of inclusion in the metal...?

The color is not right, especially on the reverse; it's probably how how the coin was imaged.

If it's on top of the surface, use a pointed tooth pick or a plastic spoon end to try and remove it. Be careful not to rub anything on the surface around the spot.
If you don't own it, return it unless it's at a price you can live with.
Thanks Guys...
The color is a little more brown in hand but the photo is real close...
I think the cheek thing is in the coin so it's part of it's history...
I like the over all apperance and love the die breaks...
PS... I would give it a 58BN..."-)

wear and dings. The fading bust line seems to indicate
a late die strike. Better coins of this variety can be found.
$150/$200 bucks max for this coin IMO.

The spot does look like an impurity in the alloy, and the color could grow on me, although it doesn't necessarily look like original color. Depending on the price, I could go either way on this one, depending on the objectives of my collection. It's not a dog.
I knew it would happen.
Brother, whenever I look at a coin I try to remember what is the first thing that drew my attention. That "thing" on her chin reminds me of a boil. If you had a boil on your chin would you want to keep it?
Wow... Copper is a whole nother animal..."-)
As they say... Education is not cheep as I paid $400 for this example...
I agree I should wait for a better example and will turn the deal around...
This is my second real copper, I'm keeping my first no matter what you all say..."-)

The spot on the cheek does look like an inclusion, but the overall color of the coin is wrong.

That was my first thought. Looks to be struck into the coin's surface.

I agree cool coin though
variety known in MS. At least one keg or perhaps two came
from the Randall hoard at 15,000 per keg of which
many were bright red with random spots. Back in the
50s they were selling for $2 or $3 bucks each.
BTW, it's a PCGS 64BR.

Randall hoard-- random shades of brown with
keg marks and scuffs. Both 1818 coins shown were
struck from the same die pairs.
Heres my 1820
