4 Seated Dollar Newps, guess the grade -- Grades revealed in the pics

To start out, I want to give a warning that my ability to capture luster on these dollars is almost zero. I'm going to take another shot at photoing them when we bring them back from the safety deposit box in the future. None of the coins have any wear, if they appear to, it's my fault since this is my first time trying to take pics of UNC seated dollars...

First up, an 1841. This coin is very, very prooflike and hard to get the actual color of the field. It is blast white but very PL. Other than the color, the picture is fairly representative of the coin. The scratches are on the holder, not on the coin. Whatcha think?
image

Next up, an 1860-O. Common date and most likely from the hoard release since the date is heavy. This coin has more luster than the picture shows but other than that, the picture is fairly accurate. What thinks you?
image

Third, lets try an early Civil War date, an 1861. Once again, this coin has much more luster than I was able to capture and the coin is much more white (like the lower left area on the reverse pic) around the entire coin. What do you think?
image

Lastly, an 1867. This coin is very white, and has a nice satiny look to it overlying a nice subtle cartwheel luster. The darker areas on the face and legs seem in hand to be a light toning area, not wear. This is probably one of the least favorite pictures I have, but it's the best I could do at the time. I need more time with these higher-grade dollars!

I'll reveal the grades in a little while after everyone has had the chance to chime in. If you can't wait, they are on our NGC Registry set, just don't cheat before you guess! image

your pics make it hard to tell if the luster was just slightly worn away
    or is it actual rub/wear.

i am not very good with this series but i will gladly embarrass myself
with some guesses. these are my conservative guesses. not the tpg
grades ;-) i hope i did not do to bad!

correcting my grades as i look at them more. pretty tough for me.
if everyone guesses higher them me it is probably due to i not getting
a good look at the luster via the pics :-|

i have a feeling i shall do rather poorly in this post.

    Nice NewP's speety.

I'll start with the first as 58/62
The second is a strong 63
The third is also a 63/64
And the last is also 63/64

Haha you have to read my disclaimer! I also made a slight edit to the beginning paragraph which may help some of the people guessing to make up for my lack in photo skills...

I agree, it's very hard to tell anything from these pics, but I'll give it a shot.

All of these grades are assuming the luster is 100% there:

    MS63
    MS62
    MS63
    MS65

Edit: Your photo of the 1861 reads 1848. Typo!

DOH! you are right. time to get ready to be embarrassed!!
sounds like 62 and above for all then even though i think i see
rub on the first coin's obv, the arm.

sigh, i should have stuck on the sidelines when it comes to this post ;-)

Why stay on the sidelines, you never learn from being right! image

The 1841 appears to have rub because of much heavier lighting to the right and bottom of the coin, if you look at the fields they are much darker to the left of Liberty than to her right. I can't wait to get these babies back from the SDB to get another shot at them. They are tough to photo!

Great coins, Mark! I like the 1861 the best, and it certainly is a tough date in any grade. Congratulations on your newps!

Whoops my bad...pictures upgraded with results.

Also, these pics made me realize that i need a longer focal distance to get the luster and thus ordered myself a new 100mm lense.

I like them... I think I would have graded the 1841 and 1867 differently had I seen them in hand. Terrific examples
