Found some coins...

I just found a bag of old coins in my closet. Most of them are from the 50s and 60s. A lot of quarters and dimes, a few Buffalo Head nickels and some other stuff. Do you think it's worth anything?

List some dates/mints and their denomination.
Pulling our legs are you?

The buffalo nickels are likely worth less. If you can read a date, they're worth maybe in the range of $0.50-$1.00 apiece. Maybe a little more or less. If you can't read a date, they're worth in the range of $0.05-$0.15 apiece. FWIW, I'm less confident about these numbers than I am about the ones for the silver.
Of course, it's always possible that you have a particularly rare item in the mix. Odds are against it, of course. Rare items are described as rare because, well, they're rare...
Again, rare ones are worth more.

OK, if someone came on the card board and said "I've got a bunch of cards I found, I'm a coin guy so don't know much about cards," what would your response be?
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
Try the PCGS price guide to give you some sort of idea on which date to look out for or error. Search through them and come back with any questions you might have. I would take a sheet of paper out for each type of coin and make a grid to place the coins in as you sort them out.
10x3 for 30 dates.
<< <i>I'm not the OP, but since you guys helped with my the dime I posted above, I thought I'd give this a try. Is this worth more than 5 cents? Thanks in advance.
Yes. And you might want to start your own thread, you keep posting old coins and such

Ok I was an idiot and went into the card forum and asked about the closet full of cards I had and would trade them for coins and here is the reply from our poster ..... which actually was good advice Date Posted: Dec/07/2007 2:40 PM
If there is anything worthwhile in there I'd be willing to talk price, but most collections of stuff from that era have been picked through and all that's left is worthless commons. Quantity really isn't the issue because no one really wants 150,000 .01 cards. If you have some of the big rookie cards from the 70s and 80s then it could be worthwhile at a price in the thousands, but I'd need a better idea of what's in there before talking price. Most of the stuff from the modern era is overproduced and worth next to nothing, but there are a handful of cards that still command a premium. I'd have to have a better idea of exactly what's there and the condition to even think about driving up though. If you could dig through a little and maybe scan a few things you think are good, that might help. Or if there are any complete sets that you could list.
As a coin guy, it would be like me saying I have 100,000 coins from 1970-present, without telling you what coins are there or the condition.
You gave good advice CD back at ya

The Susan B. Anthony rookie coin isn't worth much. Now, the George Washington rookies when he was with Denver and San Francisco are a different story.
