Have a lot of nice Jeffersons that were in a Dansco album that have now toned a light brown. What can you use if anything to remove the toning? Acetone?
Last year I opened quite a few 04, and 05 mint 2-roll boxes of nickels to make room in my safe. Just about every one of the end coins from Philadelphia had a golden tone to them, and none of the Denver rolls had it. I thought it was odd.
Unless it is severely unattractive I would leave them alone. You would have to use something that would strip a thin layer off of the original coin and that ruins the look of any luster is removed.

You might want to remove them from the source that may be causing them to tone.
