  I don't see anything different... there's some difference in how the lighting is that creates a difference in shadows, so that skews the look of it... but, I really don't see anything different between the two...

  I put 2 coins in my scan same time. the DARK part that I mention ( feather curve upward) cost by the light, because it's not FROST or smooth out like another.

  The only thing I could think of is that the one on the left was struck on a new die (or early in the life of the die).

  It kind of looks like the edges of the feathers are 'flattened' somewhat
  
  Some wear on the die perhaps?
  
  Hard to tell without a closer up look at it.
