That was very shortsighted of Yahoo. I too liked them at one time.

Until the thieves came out in droves and Yahoo did less then Ebay ever
    did in regards to them.

    Good for you.

<< <i>I don't see how ebay will suffer if people just save their ebay listings until after February 25th. The same number of items will still eventually be listed. Until there is a serious alternative to ebay, they can pretty much do whatever that want. It is too bad too. >>

This is a good point although I'd imagine that the boycott will simply test the amount of clout like-minded sellers have concerning eBay policy-making. I'm sure that serious expectations do not include any reduction to eBay's bottom line.

That's pretty easy to do when you have nothing to lose. I'll tell you what, though, ahooka454. In the spirit of the event, I'll boycott with my secondary selling account, and it has four times as much feedback as the 16 you have. image

I know I only have 16. But they are all stellar. I have earned everyone of them. Did you happen to read them? As a seller I am honest and fair, and as a buyer I am quick to pay and quick to leave good feedback. I know its not nearly as much as some, but I just started in Dec. I dont see how that makes me or my thoughts laughable. This is something I feel strongly about. Is that what makes my statements amusing? I just would like a fair shot at selling like you do. You had 16 once correct?

  • Options
Also, nothing to lose, Everything I buy has to matter and count. I dont have desposable income. Im 26, a full time dad and husband, and 100% disabled. The money thing I was refering to was meant about ebay. I know they wont lose a dime, but that wont keep me from sticking to what I believe. If this is laughable, Then laugh away.

Your self-righteous proclamation rings hollow in light of your very limited eBay experience.

    Russ, NCNE

Self rightous, I thought I was voicing my opinion. You seem to be the self rigthous one. So what I have only 16 feedback. I dont see how that makes my thoughts on this any less than ours?

Should I run my comments past you for verification?
Very limited? Cool, Atleast I have some. I started in Dec. Dude I still dont get how that makes me less important than you?

You're off to a good start. I didn't think anyone could beat Russ in posts per day here. image

BTW, since when has pride and conviction been self rigthousness?

It doesn't. I just have to chuckle when somebody proclaims it's about principle and not money, and they actually have so little invested in the process.

    Russ, NCNE
  • Options
Little invested? I know out of 5-6 sales, they top $2K. I know in comparison to yur sales that is laughable. I know this. It still doesnt mean I cant have opinions on this subject. I aint trying to start anything with you, you have taught me quite abit about Kennedys just with your posts. But I still think my postion is just as valid as ours. If I had bad feedback and was scamming people fine, but I stand behind my opinions and feelings.

Of course you can have opinions. And those opinions, just like everybody elses opinions, are subject to scrutiny.

    Russ, NCNE
  • Options
My opinion are subject to scrutiny, I understand that, but your making it sound like Im on a soap box and I have nothing of value to say. If you have so much ebay experiance, why are you not vocal about this? It effects you and your money? I just think its a bit odd, you single me out and say Im self righteous. My feedback has no bearing whatsoever on this subject. 16 positive out of 16 isnt bad. Maybe in a few years I would have as much as you. Sorry I didnt start on ebay at the time you did. I still dont get how that means Im self righteous.

Because I don't happen to think it's the end of the world. It ain't the first time eBay has changed things, and it sure as hell won't be the last.

    Russ, NCNE
  • Options
I know that, but is this the first time the feedback thing has happened? I dont think its the end of the world, just that this will directly effect me or you. Im sorry if I may sound like the world is ending. I just think this feedback thing will open a can of worms.

We have already placed an ebay boycott banner on our home page and also are in the
process of moving our fixed price listings to Google. (which we will NOT be moving back to ebay in any case)

    eBay laughed at it

and offered a 20 cent listing day

so if you don't like them, change your business model

    that is what they say

and when enough sellers leave that bring the unique and unusual
and most of what left are mass sellers with new imports

a new competitor will arise to pick up the market eBay no longer cares about

Now is the time for Microsoft to up the pot for Yahoo and start the auctions that could bring Ebay down to size.

My dad decided NOT to put up any auctions. Why take the risk of having fewer bidders ???

Buyers aren't boycotting. Sellers are. Buyers don't give a crap about the changes. Most buyers don't even know about the changes.

I need to follow my own advise - explore the alternatives. e.g. CoinZip auctions. I gotta muster the gumption to part with some of my busties!

That said, I do not find fault with those who are opposed to the ebay changes but since ebay enjoys near monopoly power, key is to rally support behind an alternative that stands a fighting chance of competing.

What are people participating in the boycott going to do during the boycott? Not sell or move to another site? I've heard a few people trying out places here and there but not one place where everyone is going.

    RickO is spot on.

I am fundamentally opposed to monopoly power and am not fond of oligopolies either. We are likely not going to better than an oligopolistic structure. That's better than no option.

Lets face it, many of us would not sell at all except to the B & M's were it not for ebay. Except high end stuff that the major auction houses handle.

eBay is certainly better than B&Ms only.

<< <i>I know it wont make a damn bit of difference to fleabay, but it does to me. I will not pay my hard earned money to them anymore. I will not. I hope others are as pissed as I am. >>

<< <i>Im mad about it all. Mainly the feedback thing. I have very few feedbacks but have all great ones. I have done my damnedest to sell quality and be honest. I am not anyones door mat nor is ebay the only one in the game. I am not dealing with a hole buyers negging just for chits and giggles. Its BS and I dont think anyone should stand for it. If anyone wants to roll over and take it up the.... fine, but I wont. >>

<< <i>I am talking with my guy right now. I dont want an auction site, just somewhere you can buy coins.

A general statement for those that wont do anything:

I know ebay wont give 2 chits about the boycott, but when we the people are having to deal with this, and some say hahaha this wont change anything, Your right, Its because people like you wont do a damn thing to change it!

All these people saying it means nothing and its a joke are the jokes. You spend your money and time and wont stand up for what you believe in.

Yup. I have decided that not buying isnt really the issue. As a buyer, nothing is really changing for me. As a seller though, thats a different story. I wont selll. Does that mean I am not standing by my displeasure over the new ebay changes? As a seller their new policy on feedback is garbage. Thats my beef with them. its not even about the fee's. Is that ok?

Yes your right. Since that postion I was chatting with some friends that thought buying was not really the same as selling. After a good discussion I decided I agreed. As long as I dont sell Im still not selling. I am displeased as a seller, not as a buyer. Plus, Im not running for President. I am allowed to change my opinion. Is this not allowed now in the US? image
