Please grade my new 1860 Seated Quarter....

I'm thinking it's an AU58. There are numerous very tiny 'hit' marks in the field that are noticeable under 10X. For this reason, I feel it cannot be MS60 or better.

Also, any idea of value for an au58?

I see no evidence of luster, but I like it as 58 details.

It looks closer to a 55, but it might be a 58 if I saw it in hand.

I think this one needs to be seen in hand to offer a reasonable grade.

Briggs 1-A.
Type 2 Obverse, type 1 Reverse.
The stars missing the centrils should not be considered for the grading of this piece as it is common on this variety.

My guess, strictly from the pics, is that this was overdipped and luster was destroyed, and that it has been treated with sulfur to try to darken it. Unfortunately, the fields took much better to the AT than the devices, giving this coin a weird kind of circulated cameo effect. Again, this may seem like quite a leap for some, but its my opinion based on the photos provided.

Tough to be sure w/o having the coin in hand, but 55 seems a likely grade. Doesn't look cleaned from here, but only a close inspection will tell. Assuming the surfaces are original or reasonably like it, $140 to $170 seems like a likely price range for such a coin.
