PCGS 30 coin Prestige box. Thumbs-up

I just received one of PCGS 30 coin Prestige storage boxes.

It is a perfect fit for my collection.
I have 7 coins in it so there is lots of room to grow.
I will work on filling it as a gift to my granddaughter someday.
She was born in 2003.
Any suggestions for 2003 coins to add to it?

Joe

Here is a pic from PCGS. The box is very nice much better than expected.

Wasn't there concern a couple years ago about wood fumes, vapors, etc. affecting the coins?

Yes, I remember that, but haven't heard anything negative about them since.

I emailed customer service and asked about the fume issue, she told me she never heard of the question being brought up before. She "will get back to me" if she finds anything out. That was 3 weeks ago.....blah...blah. So mine sits empty.

Looks like there was still no resolution.

I would not worry about it. What is the worst that could happen? Some toning? For sure that wood box isn't the source of the ASE milk spots! Big frigging deal!

Besides it will keep the moths away!

Why don't you really IMPRESS your granddaughter and go back a hundred years? Buy a nice 1903-O
    Morgan in say ....... MS64?

    Good luck,

That is a really good idea. I have looked through the 2003 series and nothing really grabs my attention except some of the bullion issues.

Nice looking box. The centennial years 1903 and 1803 might bring to mind many more interesting certified coins than 2003.

I'm not keen on giving expensive numismatic gifts to youngsters. Most are not interested in the hobby. Quite a few will dump the coins at the closest pawn shop for next to nothing, or worse have the coins stolen once they move out on their own. Sentimental coins of low value have a much better chance at staying with the family and on to the next generation.
