Need Opinion on this Barber 1/2. Will it Slab?

And if so, at what grade? Note 2 small digs next to MM.

    I have seen worse dings in slabs. I think it has a good shot, and maybe around f15-vf30. I dont know the series like some but I dont thinks its bad.

    Looks good to me. That ding under the eagle looks pretty minor in the photos.

    I know if I were to submit that coin to you know who
    I can guarantee it would come back
    bb'd for "damage."
    But I've also found a few slabbed Buffalos
    that when held the right way you can see they
    have been cleaned.

    Yes (at PCGS), VG8, no problem with the digs.

    Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.

    Maybe, but the chong by the mint mark is in a bad place. If it grades it should get a VG, but I would not say that it is a slam dunk.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    If it grades it would be a VG-8. It's a pretty big "if" though. I say 50/50 odds at best.

    Being a Key Date ( that seems to help) I think it would slab. VG 8

    I say PCGS will slab your 1893-S. I've seen several lower grade, key date coins with scratches and dings.

    It's a VG8 and the hits are unfortunate. Given the fact that it is a tough date it very well might slab.

    I don't know if it will slab but I would grade it VG-8 most likely or G-6 at worst.....

    I think your 39-C looks great! A couple minor scratches to be sure, but still a really cool coin. Since your coin is gold I'm sure the graders took into account the softer metal. The digs on the 93-S are close to the MM which makes them far more prominent I think and they look like someone put them there intentionally. I could be wrong of course, but they don't look like normal circulation marks to me. That being said, it is a key date, so it could certainly get into a holder.

    I'm in the VG 8 Group - and the digs arn't all that bad.

    It's just me, I prefer to have all my key/semikey dates in holders.
    I'm sure authenticity is not an issue here, but I do think it's great protection for the coin
    to preserve it for future generations to enjoy. If a previous generation had done that,
    this coin may not have the ding next to the MM.

    I understand that, but I want one of these for my set and it will not be slabbed nor will any of the other coins in that set image

    I believe it will holder. Because your looking at a 1893-S you would probably get a VG8-10 grade.
