It was one of the slowest games I've ever seen. The over/under was like 54 points. I'm glad NE was beat (even though NY knocked out the Pack); the NFC won and that is the second best I could have hoped for the season.

    Congrats Eli and team!

Hey, after Manning slips out of the grasp of the NE defenders and heaves the long ball to Tyree whose jump
ball catch for a first down, I thought to myself, "Whatever happens from here, it will be a great finish to the
game." THAT play was the play of the game IMO.

maybe not a great game but definitely one of the greatest Super plays ever when Manning looked sacked, got out of it and threw a completion that the NY receiver made a circus catch.

Also, did anyone see the NY trainer that has been with the team since 1948!! What's with that?? He'd be a great person to have a beer with and hear some great stories.

I told my son the same thing. that was the key play. And I believe on the next play the reciever (Tyree?) made a very heads up play and purposely dropped the pass as he was being tackled in bounds. Great drive. --Jerry

I believe that's how the game will be remembered. I would have liked to have seen a perfect season. but se' la ve.

The networks think fans only like high scoring games, but I disagree, this game was beautifully played and I enjoyed every second. Execpt maybe the last.

A win by an old NFL team is supposed to be good for the market. Maybe the coin market too.

NE are cheater, which never prosper, I've heard.

There was definitely a couple of great plays. It takes a lot more to make "one of the greatest super bowls ever." Now, granted, the underdogs, the fifth seated team deserved to win, but great game no. Great outcome, H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS YES!!!!!

Congratulations to a great defensive effort by the Giants. I know Eli gets all the credit, but this was certainly a TEAM win and kudos to all the guys who fought in the trenches including former Northwestern Wildcat Barry Coefield from Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Here's a shot I took of Barry (NU #67) in his final college game at the Sun Bowl.

Oh- and this thread is "on topic." The game started with a COIN Toss won by the New York Giants!image

I think those that feel this wasn't a great game aren't looking too closely at the defensive effort the Giants put on...Brady was sacked what, 4 times, knocked down 12 times and hurried I don't know how many. That shows the Giant's had a very solid defensive game plan, and they executed to perfection.

If they had not, my prediction of 49-14 Pats would have come true...instead, the D stepped up BIG TIME. Yes, as someone mentioned, Eli will get most of the credit (a la the MVP), but in my opinion the DEFCOM (new acronym?!) and the defensive unit deserve the MVP trophy. Without them holding the Pats down, there was no way the Giant's offense had 39 or more points in them.

Disclaimer: I'm a Cowboys' fan, and still bitter. But I really enjoy football, and am man enough to give credit where it's due.

Belicheat and the Cheatriots lose the only game that counts! Couldn't have happened to a worse organization.

From the sounds of Arlen Specter....they may all need legal representation in the near future as well.

Classy of Belicheat to leave the field with 1 second to go.

As a diehard, lifelong Giants fan, I don't think even words can describe how happy I am! However, fandom aside, this certainly was one of the best Super Bowls in NFL history, to go along with the David Tyree catch as one of the greatest plays in NFL history.

grote15, you nailed it! And, the one who enjoyed watching it most was Payton! What an experience for the two brothers. With any luck they will go head to head in a Superbowl someday.

Eli was great and the Giants defense figured out how to get to Brady and had him frustrated over and over again. "Mike and Mike" this
morning on ESPN thought that Brady might have got his bell rung with a concussion, they said he looked glassy eyed late in the game,
he was getting pounded pretty hard.

I wonder if NE coach Bill B. said (or thought), "I hope this isn't the team we face if we play in the Super
Bowl. Odds are probably not." - after defeating the Giants in the last game of the regular season?

I am sure it crossed his mind. I was looking forward to a GB-NE rematch of SB 31, and he probably was as well.
