Heard at a local coin show. There was a discovery of a 1 oz 1999 W GAE struck with unfinished proof

I was talking to a dealer at a local show and he said he heard that there has been a discovery of a 1 oz 1999 W GAE that was struck with unfinished proof dies. Has any one else heard about this or was this guy just confused?

Well I'd heard of the 1/10 oz coins but not the 1 oz coins.

I did hear about that... cannot remember for sure - but I think it was in NN or Coinworld actually... I will see if I can find it again. Cheers, RickO

Actually, it's the 1/10 and the 1/4 that were known to have been struck with unfinsihed proof dies. Low numbers have been found so far in each as well.
