I hope it's real so he can afford to buy a keyboard that allows him to put spaces after periods.

What a shame,It's turns out your card isnt real,Maybe try the dumpster down the block.

  • << <i>gem mint 10 reprints. >>

    *sigh*
  • mudflap-the only problem with that this card is not even worth grading on a 5.00 special.

I still think he bought alot of those roughed up reprints did some doctoring of his own and was trying to see if his work could pass.

OP-The foot just worries you? The foot is a tell all aside from the other things like him being closer to the left border on your card than the real card, which I can see that without measuring. That is like finding a Gretzky OPC rookie with the yellow dot missing it does not exist.
  • I gotta say, this thread has been thoroughly entertaining.

Sorry it's not real... perhaps you could just get a ton of "Gem Mint 10 Reprints" and throw them in your neighbors dumpster.

Just wait until Smitty247 submits to PSA and it's deemed authentic.

He who laughs last, laughs really loud and stuff.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
  • If it is deemed authentic by PSA I would defintly be quitting the Hobby
  • haha, this stuff makes me laugh everytime.

my real question is; is it the same person that comes on here everytime with some new find, or a bunch of people that like to stir the pot?
  • I had to go to the the dump today and also I had to take a dump, but that's OT. I went to the dump today for work and I came across someone stumbling around looking for reprint cards. I said, "Dude, I've got a bunch of 80's and 90's stuff at home worth way more than that that you can have."
He was like, "Whoa dude, that's awesome."
  • I have no idea who you are, but please don't leave. You are an invaluable member of this forum.

ummmm I don't think we will be seeing smitty anymore.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • "The people the move out threw a dumpster full of stuff away ,microwave, speakers ,drills, all kinds of things. So i dug them all out to put in my store.I found in a drawer that was thrown in the dumpster with about 10 1933 Goudey reprints and the babe ruth card was laying next to them"

That is a direct quote from your first post, but you just stated that you started buying the reprints off of ebay. So which is it? You found 10 reprints along with the original, or you bought them off ebay. And by now, I've laughed so hard at some of the people's response to your posts that I could care less that you have a 1975 Yount rookie or whatever you said you have.

  • I just LOVE this thread and these boards. Always a good laugh when these fools pop up with their "finds". How did those pics turn out so green? Geezus. This has got to be everybody's favorite pack-resealer having another go at the good guys here, it reeks of his sense of humor. I can hardly wait for this to unfold further... Kudos to all the guys here, you make this the most consistently funny baseball card forum I have ever read.
Just glad to be here with everyone.

  • Can anyone tell me how to reseal packs here? (This is a trap. Do not answer if you are not someone who cheats people and reseals packs. I totally think that this question will trap this person and we'll find out who they really are. He would have gotten away with this if it was for us meddling kids and our stupid talking dog named Scooby.)

Actually when i was replying I was thinking that and wanted to write it out as such. I was afraid one of the various message board grammar hounds would have had it fly over there head and give them some ammo for later against me. You nose i ain't the best at spelling and gramma.

    So, without further ado:

Ummm I don't tink we will see Smitty no more. Leave the reprints and grab the cannolis.

    Good for you.
  • I still feel sorry for Smitty. Dead son, diabetes (caused by depression from dead son), failing eyesight (caused by diabetes (caused by depression from dead son)), convinced he found a legit Babe Ruth card (caused by failing eyesight (caused by diabetes(caused by depression from dead son))). I would hate to be Smitty's dog right about now.

If he really has a dead son that is very serious and not a laughing matter. My youngest son was killed in a car wreck and would have been 22 this past Tuesday. Please think before you are so flippant regarding such matters. You have no idea who reads these forums.

You= all, no one in particular.

Steve, being the father of a 2 yr old daughter I cant even begin to imagine the heartache that's associated with a tragedy like that. My sincerest condolences to you and your family.

That being said, I don't think anyone was making light of his loss (if it were true), but more to the fact that when his "find" story was being scoffed at, that he went to the sympathy "life has been unkind to me" angle.
  • wow this story has more twist and turns than the mid day soaps! Thanks guys for killing the last 15 minutes of my work day... Can we do this again tomorrow??

Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

    Smitty:

I don't want to go to trouble of reading the entire thread (I was tired of it after 3 pages) so if this is duplicate info, please forgive me.

But even with blurry pics, I can tell you the card is not authentic because:

    1) the border around the picture is too wide.

    2) None of Ruth's foot on the right border is showing.

    3) Babe's foot at the bottom border is too close to the border.

Anyway, these are fingerprints of a reprint. Just because a card does not have reprint on it does not mean is real.
  • bluemarlinbluemarlin Posts: 627 ✭✭✭
Smitty-counterfeit cards never say reprint on them.Just an FYI.

    Jake
  • This card doesn't say reprint anywhere and has sold for up to $900 online. Is it real?

If it was found in a dumpster outside of Crockett Park on or after May 30, 1980, it might be real!

    Caution!

Do not attempt to read the above quote more than twice in one sitting.

On the third try I felt my brain slowly folding in upon itself.

    Gary, is that you?
