Why do Russ's thread generate so many responses on the US Coin Forum?

SanctionIISanctionII Posts: 12,949 ✭✭✭✭✭
For example, his thread about him getting outbid at the recent Heritage auction of a DCAM early silver Kennedy has generated lots of replies, some quite spirited (to put it lightlyimage.

The only reason that thread has generated so many responses is because the Village Idiot decided to talk trash on a subject about which he knows nothing.

Because Russ is popular on the boards and these coins may be the ultimate cherrypick. Imagine going to your local B&M, buying a proof set for $7 and selling it for $7000. Its all about the hunt and the possibilities.

    HMMM. the market/board likes Kennedy?

Truly if Russ, Longacre, LeeG and others quit posting we would have nothing to do. They keep the board alive. It's a tough job but someone has to do it. image. jws

SanctionII, the reason Russ' thread in question had so many responses is the same reason most high response threads build a quick high reponse count............................Argueing and / or controversy.

He is generous with his time and expertise--and of course he HAS expertise, which is more than I can say about most people (including myself), who just like to spout opinions and enthusiasm (fun, but gets dull after a while).

    Go Russ!

<< <i>1) he has over 60,000 posts and that is just on this board since they started counting

    2) he has 15 computers and the same # of alts, he kind of looks like DR Evil in a good way

    3) he does help out a lot and he definitely know his stuff I will give him that but he is too c@cky and a know it all even thought he knows it all

    4) he has be a pain in MY arse since I joined

    5) he is odd looking so people are naturally curious

    6) he takes this stuff way too seriously

    7) I guess some like it when I bust his chops but never seem to get any where because he has such a big following and often right

    8) he is too quick with his fingers on the mouse/keyboard if thats what he uses on the mouse/keyboard
    9) he is has a temper that is only tempered with a hot looking JFK, he likes pretty older men

    10) what can I say, when he busts my chops which is regularly I take it for a while and then I have to have some fun with the funny looking old bald man that obviously has a leg up on me here, big deal, he really needs help, he needs a life and you are all just using him, hey maybe he is using yahall too.

He needs to be a tad more humble, coins are nice company but I can think of better things to do on a Saturday night my friends image >>

You forgot to say that his avatar is cooler than yours. I mean, who can take A.E. Neumann very seriously? Now, a smiley face flipping you off behind a Kennedy - that's the shizzmit.

It is difficult to be humble
    when one realizes just how
    wonderful they are.Thus, to
    be humble is to crumble.

To be timid is to be a wuss

To be apologetic is to be weak.

To be nice, is for mice.

To be contrite, means your sphincter
    is up tight.

To be polite, is too boring.

To be nice, is lacking spice.

Russ gives me $.03.5 for each post that I do that generates an additional post. If it goes over 500 I get a $2 kicker. I understand he buys off the Mods and they actually redirect posts from other threads on to his. Haven't you ever wondered "what is this post doing here?" in the middle of Russ's threads? He is reputed to be a Mafia Boss and/or Donald Trump. Some say he is a Jedi Knight. I think he is an extraterrestrial. If you ask him he is evasive and repeatedly denies all of these aligations and that immediately makes him suspect. I recommend keeping an eye on him! Ask him what is behind that coin if you don't believe me. image

So I took this to task and started an already Poofed! thread on the US Coin Forum. I just posted ...Russ... in the title of the thread and posted a coin and gone...in minutes. Maybe I should have posted something more gushing? There was no malice, just an experiment.

So my conclusion is: ...Russ... in the thread is not an instant 10-response (at least for me).
