<< <i>Awesome. It seems that those of us who were lucky enough to pounce on these at the last second will do quite well. image) How high can these go? Any guesses? >>

I guess that will depend on many factors, but most importantly how many they sold?

All Froofs are W mintmark and all Uncs are not. But I'd still go with the seller you linked earlier. image --Jerry

    This is really big news!

Chopped off at 60K-61K Coins from a planned Mintage of 200K?

Buffalo Fractionals in 2008 will make this year (2007) the key to the series!

Coinboy, I want to thank you for moving me to buy a 2007 Buffalo PCGS First Strike PR70DCAM for $1420 on e-Bay a couple of months ago. I hadn't planned on it, but said, "What the heck". I am glad I bought it now. Thanks again.

If buffalo hunters would just stop

    shooting them, the buffaloes would

    not be gone.

How confident do you feel about the 61,000 mintage for the 2007 Buffalo Proof?

    WOW...what a ride...

I ordered a few for first strike...sent in 10...all 10 came back PR69...I traded the 10 FSPR69DCAM to Mitch for 5 FSPR70DCAM....still wondering who won on that trade..

For the folks who ordered on the 2nd, and received the coins, what were your order numbers(not the entire number just enough to get a feel)--Id like to see if the mint skipped over some, makes for an arguement
  • Options
Miles, without a doubt we are +/- 1,000 coins from that.

If fractionals come out this year, the Buffs 1 oz. Prrof will take off in 2008

We saw an equivalent of the US Mint's pulling of the 2004 W Platinum Proofs, today.

    It made those coins Keys.

I'd also be interested in that info, since I ordered on the 2nd and got nothing.

Bill, Mitch is one sharp guy, but I believe you both won. Or better put, who still has the coins?

    My 2 cents:

I think 60,000 -65,000 mintage is too high for these coins to be anything special for a long, long time to come. Heck, 1 oz Proof gold Eagles with mintages below 25,000 (repeat 25,000) still sell for less than $100 over spot today. Expect these coins to sell around $100 over spot too.

PR70DC FS coins should benefit though from the low mintage. Expect to see $1,800 - $2,000/coin.

Conclusion - my deal with Bill, even today, is as fair as it was earlier in the year. 10 69's vs. 5 70's - a "wash".

Mitch, I agree that verses the Eagle it seems high.

But the 99.9999 % pure gold Buff coin is special and is so much more apealing to me than an Eagle.

I don't know why, but an Eagle just doesn't do for me.

Bill - I know where you are coming from.

But, also remember - there is a reason why the mint only sold 65,000 coins this year- and that reason may translate into less than 50,000 coins sold for 2008 and less than 45,000 in 2009 and so on and so forth. And, if and when the subsequent year mintage trumps 2007 mintage then 2007 becomes in the "doghouse" again.

I watched this happen with proof Platinum.

2001 was the banner year - only 8,254 sets - a real sleeper!! No 2003 was the real winner - just 7,044 sets (2001 back to selling for around melt)!! Wrong again - 2004 beats out 2003 (2003 back to selling for 5%-10% over melt). But, wait the Mint is showing 2005 as lower than 2004 - quick - sell your 2004 sets! Oops - false alarm - Mint provided wrong numbers for 2005 (forgot to add in 1st quarter 2006 sales) - 2004 is the winner again!! image

One thing in its favor is there is a chance that the 24K coin will become the investor coin of choice. What would help more is if the mint actually started to phase out the 22K and call it quits as there is no reason to continue them.

I think I was able to get my order established again for the 10 coins I ordered. They apparently canceled my order because I changed my credit card and when I did that, they said it created a new order for the coins. Since they were sold out, they canceled my order. I am glad they were able to help me. I ordered pretty early on the 2nd, like 7am and they canceld my order when I changed my cc #.

Exactly how were you able to talk them into this??? I also ordered on the 2nd (just 1 coin), and although they said they were in stock when I placed the order, I got the cancellation email yesterday. I've called them 3 times in the last 2 days and was told they couldn't help me because they were sold out.
Apparently that was just a line of BS if you were able to get them to ship you 10 coins. How can they ship you coins that supposedly don't exist?

I guess they were lying to me about there being no more available - no surprise image

I called on the 4th and asked them to release the order for shipping. Sometimes they will do that, sometimes they will not. I think by doing that, I was put to the front of the line as far as shipping goes (compared to those that had to wait the regular 3 or 4 days for the order to clear). I called and explained the situation and the girl that changed my credit card number put a note on the account noting my concern when I changed it. I always ask them to put notes (they used to call them ticklers) on my account whenever I call to update something. I think they realized that their system shouldn't have canceled my order and said they would honor it since my coins were "in stock and reserved".

I doubt the mint goes through each order one at a time when they cancel them. I think I got lucky because I had them take notes and me changing the credit card number caused my order to be canceled.

Don't go high order on the mint, I think I had a pretty solid case and customer service did too. In the last 5 years, I have been screwed many many times by the mint and they have only been able to help me twice. That is why I started having them take notes on my account so I could prove my case when they screw up.

But keys to a series not many are into, or can afford.

"I don't know why, but an Eagle just doesn't do for me. "

Many say the same thing about these platinums.

    Well, congratulations on getting 10..

I think I'm done doing business with the mint. Can't trust them to ship anything if the price spikes after I place the order.. They've pulled this crap on me for the last time. image

Congrats Jesse! Only about 8 dollars from spot and climbing......
I too have assured that the operator keep notes but rarely has it worked that well for me to recapture lost Gold.
Gonna have them graded or just keep them sealed?

Well I had my Mint order, late albeit, cancelled...so, I ordered a 2007 Proof NGC UC 69 from Moderncoinmart and as always:
    They sent it expedited USPS,
sealed the slab in a seperate form-fitted ziploc,
assured the slab had no smudges, fingerprints, or scratches,
    left me multiple explanatory emails,
and, sold me the Buffalo at $919.00.
John has 100 Percent Feedback for an obvious reason, as difficult as it is to please everbody (which has often been discussed on this forum, in regards to eBay).

    2007 Proof Buffalo Off Sale
    By Numismatic News
    January 10, 2008

With gold bullion hitting record highs and nearing the issue price of the 2007 proof gold Buffalo coin of $899.95, the Mint took the coin off sale Jan. 3, likely for good.

For the year, buyers snapped up 60,000 of the coins, approximately one-quarter of the number they purchased in 2006, the first year of issue.

Demand during a second year tends to fall sharply, but strong jumps in the price of gold bullion during the year might have played a role in keeping demand as high as it was.

Are you saying that's too low or too high? Personally I think that is way low considering the entire 70 population is tiny compared to the 2006 which is selling at a much higher premium. I am hoping to get quite a bit more than that for the ones I will be selling.

With the rising price of gold, perhaps this is a good time for the mint to introduce fractional buffalos?
