""Miles, you say you like the Lunar series? I wish I pulled the trigger on a dragon when I bought that snake from APMEX, as they had the dragons in stock for under a grand. I will probably never own a dragon now. I just received that Tiger from CNI. A friend and I went in on four lunars when the spot dropped near $770. We got the lunars for $833 each. I bought the snake over the summer for $740. I can't hardly save fast enough to buy at these rising gold prices!"""
Sneaky, Hold your hope. The Dragon may fall as it sure moved up extremely fast. That depends on the price of Gold also, but others in the series have very low mintages in comparison. We will see, when the Olympics in China happen, as to what the upcoming value of the very esteemed Dragon can attain. You made a great decision in even starting the series. The rest continue to sell near spot, except for the Horse, and you did get the Snake which is also sold out. You have an excellent start on a diversified collection of Gold!

This one is tough I had a bunch at the beginning, almost all of them were perfect, only 1 came back 70. With wondercoins help I managed to get 5 more 70's with re-submissions. His fee was to pay mint pricing for half of the 70's + 1/2 of the submission fees.
On Ebay, there are a total of 9 (nine) 2007 Gold Proof Buffalos for sale and one-third of those are from a seller in Canada that hates Paypal. That appears to be a decreasing rather than increasing number. It appears either the escalating price of Gold is holding the number down, or those that would rather hold than fold in hopes of 70's, sealed packages to sell, or handwriting on the wall.

Now for the big question. Are they really sold out? >>
Ozzyfan, I'm wondering when you placed your order for 10? I placed my order for 1 on the morning of Jan. 2nd (Eastern time); it was in stock when I placed the order. I kept checking the satus online & the ship date kept being moved back each day. When I called today, they said that it's now on backorder & cannot even give me a ship date. They said I may or may not get it. I spoke to 2 customer service reps & asked why all of a sudden my order no longer has a ship date. Their answer was basically "it's on backorder - and if any become available - you'll get one".. She said they only minted 200,000 and that they were all gone - I'm sure that's not the case..

Order # 27694886 - 1 Sold To STEPHENSON, JERRY Ship To STEPHENSON, JERRY
Item: BA7 Qty: 10 2007 AM BUFFALO 24K GOLD PROOF ONE OUNCE
I too placed my order on the 2nd. Called them a few times to check on the order and was told "no problem". just figured out today that the credit card was declining it because that card has my home address instead of my business address as a billing address. billing and shipping address must match. I wish the mint could have told me the card was being declined. --jerry
This isn't the first time the mint has pulled this crap. They're just looking to reprice them & get more money. It's not as if they've run out of gold, or even reached the limit of 200,000.
I used to trade gold on the floor of the Comex. If I sold someone 10 gold contracts & at the end of the trading day the price had jumped $10 or $15 from the time I sold it in the morning, I couldn't go to the person I sold them to and say: "Sorry, but I don't want to honor the trade because the price went up". I would have been banished from the trading floor.
If the mint gets an order when the product shows as being available on their site, they should honor it.
I'll be sending back my 10th Anniversary Platinum set. What was I thinking paying almost $2,000 an ounce for platinum?

Indeed the mint sometimes, especially with platinum, sells well into the next year. But for them to stop selling 07's in 08 isn't unreasonable. >>
Then they should have pulled them on 12/31. If it shows as being available and "in stock" when I place the order, I don't think it's "unreasonable" for me to expect them to honor the sale.
But, I think we all know what's really going on there.
Basically, my point was that they confirmed my order - and as such I stopped shopping for gold that day.
Now today they have canceled my order, but because of the subsequent price increase in gold, I no longer have the same buying options that were available to me on the day that I chose to conduct business with the Mint - I made the point this was an inequitable way to do business.
I was told that:

I tried getting 10 un circulated liberties and the following day they took them off and did not honor the purchase, it is not as if they cannot enter on their server how many coins they have on hand and as soon as the sales hit that number the server stops selling the coin. Worst part is that they say they must reprise the coin to cover minting cost. Well lets look at this, lets say they mint 5000 coins that they are selling at 800 per ounce. they sell 1000 coins and all the sudden gold goes to 900. They still have 4000 coins that they minted at the lower cost, but they still pull them off and reprise due to minting cost? The cost will not affect them until after they sell the remainder 4000 coins.

It worked when the mint "sold out" of the 20th Anniversary American Gold Eagle sets. They canceled my order of 10 and I was able to get them to "find" 6 sets in the warehouse. That was about 6 months after they sold out because they keep moving my expected ship date.
Awesome. It seems that those of us who were lucky enough to pounce on these at the last second will do quite well. ) How high can these go? Any guesses?
