Lance Armstrong Autographed Eagles

PCGS. One for every year symbolic of his TDF victories.
Say anything you want about this set, and say anything you want about Lance but I like this set VERY much and looked far and wide to find it.

I kind of missed the whole Lance Armstrong hype while it was happening but now that I'm riding I sure can appreciate what the man accomplished. And I took a 25km bike ride after getting these in the mail. I was so pumped up. I had ran 3 miles this morning to work and walked home about the same distance and then decided to break the bike out as well. More than I usually do in one day but these coins fired me up.
I didn't know they existed either but when I found out about them I hunted a set down.

Hah, I had to get that in there for ya, I know the anticipation was intense!
<< <i>Lance is the man.

oh yes he is!
BTW john, I am an avid Runner and Biker myself... and once you do that for any length of time you come to appreciate the amount of strength it takes to do what he and others like him do so well... I have been running strong for about 2 years and have only recently broken 8 miles.

To understand the discipline it takes to appreciate "dancing on your pedals" while ascending a steep incline is difficult to understand. Unless you have watched Lance or have been disciplined enough to get through the suffering enough to appreciate the dance, it is even more difficult.
Enjoy the ride. It is truly "Not about the bike" as Lance coined. But a nice road bike can entertain and inspire. Kinda like coins?
Thanks for sharing John.....

Now I would have paid more if he would have put a fingerprint on the obverse.
I like the idea one guy had of colorizing the coin so Liberty has a yellow jersey.
This one isn't about the coins at all. This is all about Lance's Autograph, for me anyway. I like Silver Eagles and think Lance is an awesome athlete as well and I ride a Trek bike like he does. It's possible he's a little faster than me though.
Perfect fit.

I missed that one but would like for my daughter to see it. I'm trying to find her decent people who are decent role models. I try to toss her a new name or so every week of people who actually work hard, maybe overcome something, and provide some benefit to mankind. Lance fits that bill.
The jury is still out on Roger Clemens.
She's getting about that age where the kids in school are admiring the MTV bozos. My daughter can play piano like you would not believe and she's nine, if she wants to admire some musicians talent that's all wonderful, but she does not need to admire thug mentality or anything like that.

weren't you moving to California?

Changed my mind, thumb print on reverse and Sheryl crow Ni..pp.. print on the obverse.
According to the PCGS Press releases he was to sign 10,000 coins. If it's 10,000 total that makes less than 1500 "sets" although I seem to recall finding a web page once that showed the bulk of these was signed in 2004 but I can't be sure and I can't find the page again.

I didn't even know he had a book but I'll swing by our library today and see if they have it. Lance is controversial, no doubt. Not in my mind, not in the least, but I think nobody wants to believe one person can be that dominant in this day and age when others have been caught.
I personally think some people are capable of remarkable feats and just plain old want it more than others. I guy that can win his LIFE back is that kind of guy.
He's an inspiration to me. He's running marathons now and I'm primarily a runner although you'll not see my name on any victory lists. I ran myself from massive couch potato to regular guy in the last 4 years or so. And I slacked off for a year or two and when I came back hard my legs were starting to give that feeling that they were going to quit so I bought a bike to mix up my training a bit. After the first ride I couldn't believe how much fun it was. Now I'm trying to learn something about the sport and I've improved a lot. My only goal is to ride. Period. However when I first started the computer said I was usually going 18 km per hour or so. Now it routinely says 26-28 km per hour or so. And here lately I've been pushing long stretches into the 30's.
It takes a lot of my inner personal strength to ride like that and I can't imagine being so good and so committed as to be the best in the world for 7 years straight. He's an inspiration.
You're looking in the right direction for motivation. God Bless.

What Lance accomplished was incredible. Its too bad that professional cycling is such a mess, and that his era was so tainted.

I've asked PCGS for information on the Q&A page (for the American Heros series in general) and they haven't yet responded. Maybe they will with some exact figures.
I've seen some registry set pages that show low pops but I don't know if that means anything. I seem to recall seeing somewhere that he only signed a handful in the earlier years of the program. And the lions share in 2004 and 2005.
I hope you're right.

I found out about the series while researching the PCGS American Hero's series. I've been collecting mostly autographed collectibles related to coins here as of late.
I just did a google search on it and deep into the pages of results I found some guy who had a set for sale so I emailed him and asked if he still had it. He did, and I launched him some money.
