Russ, will they boot him completely? The rest of his auctions are getting bids. He needs to go.

That isn't even a Large Cent. It's a low grade casting of a Large Cent. It looks like he's found himself a new Chinese supplier that produces much better castings. This guy should be busted for fraud and put in jail.

He is at least in violation of the hobby protection act, if not counterfeiting and mail fraud on a grand scale.

<< <i>Yep, He has a nice little ring of at least 5 shill bidders >>

The 5 shill bidders are probably the seller. Notice that the feedback comments are basically the same.

Much like Myspace, Ebay needs a fulltime office of Law Enforcement officers working on cases that come from their site.

Are all his bidders shill, or are there some real bidders in there? They are all private, can he set that for everyone, or is it a individual users setting? Ive never used ebay.

I saw the 1818 go up and at the time it was the only coin listed. Initially asked seller for additional images but no reply.

I then emailed seller, advising that I intended to bid to win and that I further expected the transaction to be consummated through an ebay approved escrow.

Well, still no reply. Interesting background to the images. All with the red checks.

  • Dollar2007Dollar2007 Posts: 759 ✭✭✭
And if you click through the front and back images, you will see the coin is in the same exact place and the coin is always at the same rotation, like they are pasted on the background.

Look at the stuff one of the people who left him feedback sells to get their feedback rating up. Dollar bill
    Edit: plus $3 shipping.

This scammer and all the other schills work together and buy each other's items for a very low amount to obviously build up each other's feedback rating.

    Obvious scam....

Click on his feedback and then click on his buyers feedback and you'll see a repitition of names.

These coins are too good to be counterfeits. They must be photoshopped pictures from some high end Auction catalogues.

Yes, an interesting little collaboration of new members with low feedback working together to establish credibility. Click on any one feedback profile and you find all the others. Can't find one with more than 18 feedbacks. My guess is most are the same person.

Yet ebay has not took down any of the auctions.
  • I have been trying to bid this thing way up with my wifes ebay account and the bid has gone up to 1723.00 and I'm still losing

  • << <i>I have been trying to bid this thing way up with my wifes ebay account and the bid has gone up to 1723.00 and I'm still losing >>

Your ass is grass when your wife finds out.

    Ray
  • your probably right Ray.

My wife never gets on the computer so I never knew she had a ebay account. We were married in 2002 she said she was looking for a Halloween costume the year before so she opened the account. Early in my collecting I felt the need to sell some duplicate items I had won during my buying frenzy. So I listed a few coins and she thought she would play a joke on me and use her E-bay account. The funny thing was the coin didn't receive any other bids.

So when I got back in town and checked the auctions I was a little ticked when this coin sold for .99. I know my shipping was a little high but being new I was shipping everything priority mail in a bubble wrapped envelope. So I get this message from the buyer asking me if I would waive the shipping charges since they lived in the same area code and that they would just meet me at a Walmart in town and give me a few bucks for gas.

I was like " what the crap is this about " I told my wife this person is of their rocker if they think I am going to do this. So the teasing began from her and she finally talked me into it.

So I send they "buyer" a message that I will do it after work on a Friday. They send me a message back saying that they don't get off until 7 pm and they would meet me there. Well you know where I am going with this because Friday is set aside for date night.

So when I told her what time I had to be there she acted like it was no big deal she said she would just go out with her friend that night to a movie. So she is in the bathroom getting ready and Im out in the bedroom fuming that I am losing my date night for a 6 dollar coin I had to part with for .99 cent

So out the door she goes laughing all the way at my ATTEMPT to sell things on Ebay....

DO I HAVE TO EVEN FINISH THE STORY FOR YOU TO KNOW WHO SHOWED UP AT WALMART WAITING FOR HER COIN.
She is dressed up nice I have on shorts and a plain raggedy t-shirt.

OOOOOO what fun we had that night I still laugh about it from time to time. Not that it was that long ago.

And yes she still has the Walking half in the nice clear airtite And yes I did make her pay .99 cent for the coin and 2 bucks for gas

  • jdillanejdillane Posts: 2,365 ✭✭✭
Well, I laid down substantial bids on many of the coins. Outbid on most but am high bidder on 2 or 3.

  • About one hour left for all the auctions, and it's a $16,000 payday and counting. This, after creating multiple bogus accounts where the same 1819 Large Cent was sold at least 14 times for an average of $2.00. His supposed "1970-S Proof Cent Penny Cameo Ultra" has exchanged hands (not for real, though) 24 times (that I've counted so far) between the bogus accounts. Then, there's that 1957 Silver Certificate. Someone just negged his "1978dufiano" account; "look at the feedback they have all bought & sold together & joined the same day".

I especially like how he sold the same pair of junk large cents time after time, apparently to accomplices, to build up positive feedback. He ended all of those auctions early after one bid too.
