<< <i>Possibly, sometimes. Most likely, no... most of the time. The grading standards, between TPG's are not standardized - as are most measures used in commerce and science. Because of this lack of standardization, there are variances between TPG's - and often within one service as well. You must adjust to the fact that a grade by a TPG is an opinion - albeit usually a reliable opinion. Opinions vary and are not supportable by hard standards (i.e. the National Bureau of Standards). All that being said, your original question, if it is to be answered utilizing the accepted dogma.. is that the more consistant (and some say stringent) standards (opinions) are to be garnered from PCGS and NGC. The confidence level goes down from there as you plumb the bowl of alphabet soup (TPG's). I hope that helps somewhat. Cheers, RickO >>
Well said. I would state flatly that there are no guarantees. Grades among these parties should remain similar, but again, it's opinion and opinion varies.
<< <i>So PR68 anacs may only be a 66 or 67 in ngc and a 65 or 64 in a pcgs holder. >>
No, you should never see that extreme of a variance on a proof coin

Not neccesarily that big of a drop, or even any drop. Do you have a picture of the actual coin in question?
Some of these guys can tell you what you need to know, in my experience they are VERY accurate. Also great at spotting problems.
