Go to FUN'08 in Florida or wait and go to the ANA show (March?) in Arizona?

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,790 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have a business trip in early January and so would be flying and flying again (cross country) if I went to FUN....and, the weather isn't great at the time (well, it wasn't 2 years ago at FUN'05). Thinking maybe the ANA show in Phoenix.

What do others think...I haven't been to an ANA show and am assuming it would be a large one with lots of dealers and product?
(thinking it may also be a tad cheaper for expenses....?)

I would go with the FUN show personally but I am biased since I live in Orlando....I can't imagine that the ANA show could be any better than the FUN show but I agree that might be the cheaper route image

    Yeah....east coasters would favor that.
I'm am Pacific NW....been to Long Beach (sucked pretty much...nice to talk to people but no nice coins or prices...took almost $3000 to spend, spent ~$30).

GO to the ANA show in Phoenix.

Reason being, I can't go to FUN, but I can and will be going to Phoenix ANA.

I would think a spring ANA would not even compare to the FUN show.

    Why?
I haven't been to an ANA show, like I said, but I didn't think they were that bad.....

Go to the FUN show. It's much larger and more interesting than the spring ANA.

FUN is a 'must do' show. Spring ANA is usually one of the suckiest major shows of the year. You'd be better off doing the spring Baltimore Whitman show than doing spring ANA or February Long Beach (the other suckiest major show of the year).

The spring ANA is bush league compared to the FUN show. Do the FUN Show. No brainer IMO.

I have only been to two FUN shows...last year in Orlando and the year before in Ft Lauderdale.
I'd rather go to Ft Lauderdale as its two hours closer to where I am in SW Florida. The FUN bourse
is amazing and now I wouldn't miss it for the world, even if its my busiest time of the year.

Did anyone have an opinion of the FUN show held in the Palm Beach area during the Summer ?
I'm going to rearrange my vacation plans this July to include a day or two @ FUN before I head
    up to Cape Cod.

The FUN show will be much better than a spring ANA. Probably the two best shows to go to are the FUN and the summer ANA.

I live in Tucson and would do FUN as well.

Lucky I don't have to choose, though.

The FUN summer show was pretty good, considering the heat in Fla that time of the year, I had a good time, bought a nice 20 center off Harry L. and sold a few pieces. Not as robust a show as FUN in Orlando in January, but pretty darn good. The drive is not so bad to either for me living in south central Fla. As to the original Q, i would go to FUN... I've not been to the west coast, but it's probaly the premier show of the year based on my experiences and those I've talked to who regularly attend all the major shows. The folks who put on the FUN shows do a really good job.

If you've done FUN, try the ANA. Phoenix is actually tolerable in early Spring. If you can extend your stay, a drive up to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon via Sedona is nice, as long as they aren't in a band of severe thunderstorms or something.

    Ron,

    FUN!!!

The reason: I live close by and you would have the opportunity to meet me in person...well worth the flight time.image Also, I'll have lots of Roosies for you to consider, like the one below.

Jim.....that may be the best argument to FUN, for me, there is. image

Still considering....it's a LONG flight, for me, and it would be back to back travel, but I will make a decision soon.
Last time I went to FUN (2005), I met Mark Felds and a couple of others but didn't know many from the board. Would be cool to meet you, and others, there...and go to the PCGS brunch
(though, last time, there was no sample slab from them image )
