What I find most amazing besides being one of the most unreactive metals, one ounce of pure gold can be pounded into a thin sheet of metal measuring 300 square feet and can be drawn into a thin wire 5 miles long. Gold is good stuff.

Science does not call gold the "mystery element". We can define it very nicely, and understand its nucleosynthesis. We can predict its reactions and understand all of its wonderous qualities.
