Wildwood coins... where do they get all of these toned coins?

kiyotekiyote Posts: 5,588 ✭✭✭✭✭
I can't help but to wonder...

Especially the 1964 NGC graded Kennedy halves they always seem to have a million of.

I thought NGC slabbed the coins they certified, but none of these NGC Kennedys appear to be in holders...

They get them from right under thier gas powered water heater, where they store all thier coins!

They had to break them out before they stored them!

Most 40 to 60 year old silver coins look like this. The 100% white ones have been dipped.

My 60's silver coins don't look like that, but then I am in a dry/arid state!

I prefer KEY coins over Toned coins. image
However... try to imagine what Brass is going to look like in as many years.
My advice is : If you have a KEY coin, get it slabbed, NOW. I prefer the KoolAid

And how does EBay's policy about showing the coin, both obverse and reverse, in the holder fit into these BIN's? image

    awww let him be.

Did I tell you all about the time Russ sold me an MS 65 "funky toned" (which is a code word for "FINGERPRINTS ALL OVER COIN") Franklin Half dollar on ebay, and if I didn't know better, I'd say someone shilled it up to BOOK PRICE. I gave it away to askRaq in trade with a few other coins for a godless GW that my friend put his big thumb print on. It's his now (MS64 funky toned godless dollar ungraded) So....
Let's not prosecute the guy just yet... He's just making a living. His coins are no worse or better than OTHER people here. Is there a posse out ? Goody two shoes ? Was kiyote's intent to get someone messed with on ebay ? So many questions, so few answers.

You need a new monitor if you cant tell a coin has fingerprints from one of Russ images, and he does not have shill bidders to even suggest that is extremely unfair.

    reply from seller:

I will pull it from the bank and shoot it in the AM. You can verify the grade ext on the NGC web site if needed.
    Regards,
    Ron

theDoc will see if the slabbed item, looks like the auction. inquired about the highest priced one, the walker.

looks like ebay auction, in the slab, kewl. not, report same.

If you were unhappy with the coin, all you had to do was contact me and I would have gladly accepted a return. You didn't. You have chosen instead to childishly post remarks about the coin several times since the sale. As for the funky toned reference in the auction, it referred to the toning that was across the upper half of the obverse. Here is the auction description:

<< <i>Funky pale cream toning patch across the top of the obverse. Nice luster and cartwheel. Housed in an Old Green Holder. >>

And, here are the images of the coin that hide absolutely nothing:

And, finally, as to your accusation of shilling, here is the bid history for the auction:

We'll let the membership review that and draw their own conclusions about the credibility your accusation.

Why should the seller be left alone? I mean sheesh!

These reports are all in the spirit of this forum anyway as everybody gets raked over the coals! Sometimes twice!

Given the number of legitimate auctions that have been cancelled due to EBay's new "policies" why should this seller be allowed to keyword spam NGC coins that are not shown in their holders? Its a legitimate question after all.

BTW, is there anyway to look up an NGC cert number?

This seller needs to read up on proper coin storage, or else he needs a full course in business ethics - one of the two.

On another note, the bidding on Russ's auction looks about as legit as most buyers could hope for. A shill bidder? I don't think so. And the pictures look more than adequate from my vantage point. But, I wouldn't have bid on that one, either.

If those are the photos that were used in the auction, I can't see how anyone could complain that something wasn't disclosed. The fingerprints that are spoken of are clearly visible in the photos.

The part that makes me wonder is that these neon toned coins are shown out of NGC holders-- does that mean he managed to get these monstrosities into NGC holders later!?

  • I've bought from this seller before. I no longer buy from this seller now.

I have literally rubbed the toning off some of the coins with my thumb. These coins
were in the mint sets sealed.

I've met Ron and talked to him several times. Real nice and personable type
    dealer.

I don't know who messes with his coins, but I won't be buying them anymore.

Also, his web domain is up for sale.
