2007 US Mint Uncirculated sets have arrived! Pics in 21st post added
The sets are presented very nicely in the packaging and yes you can see the reverses of the coins as easily as the obverses. The packaging is where the quality ends! Been through 10 sets and the coins are of very average to poor quality on average. Multiple coins have spots and many have noticable dings and scrapes. The P sets are far worse quality than the D sets. Many of the James Madison dollars have spots. And I can tell you first hand, James Madison is one scary looking dude on these new coins!! Overall the dollars are better quality than the rolls but 70's may be very, very tough!! Overall I grade the packaging A-, the coins C-. Oh yea and they are satin finish but several are very mild satin finish and look like they were minted with very worn dies.

Mine should be here anyday now, hopefully I will be luckier!
gives whole new meaning to the phrase, "mint state";
as in, "pathetic state of affairs."
Don't you wish we could feel good about our coinage?
Hoard the keys.
I'm looking forward to picking up a few 07 Mint Sets in a few weeks
I did just order 3 sets, along with a couple of the silver proof sets, for our collections. If they are dogs, they go back. We don't expect perfect from them but do expect non-spotted coins.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
The name is LEE!
<< <i>Are they indeed Satin Finish? >>
Yes they are. Some more than others depending on die stage. The 25 sets I went through were not good. All 25 pennies in both sets were spotted or had problems less one. I sent in an order for grading. 18 D's and 2 P's. That's not a good percentage. I only send in coins with a minimum 68-69 chance so based on previous years these were truly dogs. Actually sent in more Prezzies than anything else. No P state quarters were worthy. My small sample seems to indicate the highest quality quarters were the Utah and Washington D's.
<< <i>Can you open the case and remove the coins like the Proof sets? >>
FLB ... Have you tried removing the proof pres. $? They are not only in the Mint slab, but encased in a heavy duty celophane or plastic.

I'm not FLB but I have removed the proof prez $1. It was NOT hard to do.

The hard plastic is open on the reverse side and the coins will pop out if you push them out from the front.

No way!! The coins are soldered in plastic. They are even hard to cut out. No switching coins out in this set. Seriously they are unbreakable w/o destroying the original packaging. Kinda like a PCGS Slab.
The packaging is horrible. With about half of the sets when you open the flap to view the coins the back falls away and the quarters fall out. I guess the glue isn't working. I think the previous year mint sets are much better with coins completely sealed and then inserted into envelopes. The mint has really screwed up with these sets, IMO.
As far as the coins go....... UNEXCEPTABLE!
Most all of the presidential dollars are marked and nicked to beat the band and do NOT look like a satin finish coins. The other denominations are spotted, nicked and look no better than one would find in circulation. Anything above MS65 will be tough to find in these new sets. The only coin in the bunch that seems to be decent are the Sacs.
So it goes with the US Mint.

Nice presentation, so I guess the coins are sealed in that Mylar sheet like the coin covers?
<< <i>try to get them out....just try >>
x2!! I know someone posted earlier that the coins were falling out but that is an anomoly. As stated above....try to get these coins out of the plastic....good luck, they are welded into the plastic.
