This is what a copper-nickel Indian cent looks like after a century or so in the ground.
It was dug this month by one of our MD Forum members.
Aside from the rim nick and a few scuffs, that is not a bad looking Indian. Not worth slabbing, but it would look nice in an album.

Speak for yourself on that one. I have bought many, many coins at $2-5 apiece, sent them in at $18 and then sold them for $50-200. The profits easily cancel out the coins that don't work.
ANACS will slab it, but will be labled as "rim damage" AU 50 details...
It definitely has AU details but the massive rim gash kills it.
On another note, it cracks me up when individuals say "Oh, it's only a $50 coin so it shouldn't be graded or in plastic." Financial gain is not the only reason coins are graded.
