Crazy Color (but not AT) !?

dcarrdcarr Posts: 10,144 ✭✭✭✭✭
Whenever I mint a new item, I usually cull out a few pieces that have minor surface imperfections.
Then I subject those to various experiments (sandblasting, burnishing, toning, etc.).
Once in a while I get a totally bizarre result. Like this piece. But is it AT (Artificially Toned) ?
I say not. Because as the issuer (minter) of the coin, I can issue it with whatever surface
finish I want. So what you see here is the ORIGINAL "IT" (intentionally-toned) finish:

PS: The photos show the actual appearance of the coin in-hand.

If I wore it around my neck, would it reflect those rays? You know, THOSE rays. Prettier than the tinfoil I'm wearing right now, and would match my underwear better.

    Nice medal!

    What will Hal Turner say?

Maybe it's a vast leftwing toning conspiracy.

He'd probably say that the red, white, and blue colors of the coin are a trick - to make people subconsciously associate the USA with the Union of North America.

Hey, do you do "Battle Creeks"? Seriously, I like the Goldberg toning of some of those Darkside coins. I can see the "NT" folks will start to bray like donkeys if we go too far with this...

That is pretty cool. I'd love to see some IT coins for sale. Painted coins just don't do it for me.

All you need is to have green included with the toning and you would have all three national colors.

Is that computer toning of a real coin, computer toning of a coin image on the computer, or actual toning of a real coin?

Oops, after rereading your text I think it must be actual toning of a real coin. (Coin is, perhaps, not the correct term?)
