Jefferson Spouse UNC a beauty

The HUGE pics posted on another thread "BIG PICS" show these Jefferson Spouse Gold in great detail and clarity....

I have to give the edge to the TJ Spouse Gold in UNC over the PROOF

You may disagree, but, classic designs in UNC just looks and feels "right", PROOF versions of these classic designs to me look like modern knock off copies

I have always preferred the proofs.... JMO... that being said, the unc's often command higher prices in the upper MS grades. Cheers, RickO

Its all about the design and what finish it looks best in.....

    For classics, it's UNC.

PROOFS just cheapens the whole coin.......when is the last time you saw a proof half cent?
  • I pick the proof. Lots of classic designs were proof for instance the Liberty series gold which are stunning coins. Unfortunately few will ever have the opportunity to own one. Proofs are never as appealing in a picture vs in hand. I have the TJ proof in hand, and it's stunning, much better than the UNC in my opinion.

  • On the first 2 spouses I like the proofs better, but on this one I think the UNC version looks much nicer than the proofs. image
  • I only bought the proof. Ergo, the proof is the best looking one and should command a hug premium over the uncirculated version.

again, I think on this design, the proof "cheapens" the coin, kind of looks like a private mint knockoff of a few years ago,

    doesnt do it for me.

    the UNC looks much nicer......

And I originally thought the proof was a hands down winner......not so anymore.

I wonder if people got your message the first two times? Do they need to post their opinions again as well? image

Again, we don't. I love all my 18th and 19th century proof. This coin has the flash in proof the UNC just doesn't have IMO. This is the first proof I've purchased in gold comm's in the last 5 years and it's a keeper. The UNC's fine too, just like the contrast of Miss Lib with the mirror background. Sorry I'm just a sucker for the DEEP CAMEO on these proofs.

Guys, I love proof coins of the 19th century as well. I guess it comes down to taste and actually viewing the coin in hand.

Is my opinion of the UNC upsetting you if I say it more than once? You DONT have to read this thread, there are other things YOU can reply to, even start your own thread.......

Who knows where this will go with other collectors. There are threads with posts about cancelling UNC orders, which I think is rediculous - hold these beautiful coins as they are nicely distributed and should appreciate well over the next few months.

I seem to like the unc commems better. If I only buy one of some commen that comes out it is usually the unc. I really like the classic look of the Jefferson fs unc. I ordered both, but I'm sure before I receive them I will like the unc better.

I still wish they'd have made that nose a bit smaller, kinda looks like Barbara Streisand...

US Mint proofs don't remind me of cheap knock offs because I don't buy or come across the latter.

US Mint satin finish UNCs remind me of modern copies because the classics didn't come in satin finish.

I'll feel free to repeat myself after a few more posts have been added image

Zions, when is the last time you saw a cameo proof 1/2 cent ....Liberty in Deep Cameo? If that isnt unnatural, I dont know what is......

Feel free to have the last word, I know you'll be back for more.

    I will answer your question,

No, not Satin Finish Unc, but at least UNC!!!!!

Cameo Proof....? Never. Unnatural. Cheap knock off. Might as well buy it from the mid western mint that did repo's of all types of coins....

7over8, you seem to have some deep need to disparage other people's collecting preferences, not once, but many times.

I'd have to agree the UNCs look far better. Proofs look kind of cheesy.
