  • I'd love to have that coin, but I don't think it will go Cam at PCGS.

Don't think they will change there mind on it.
  • Hi Strat, good to see you posting!

I like that one. However you needed to win the coin first, then make the post. That is because everybody will now want to bid on it! As for the grade I think it deserves a star for sure. Cameo Walkers are so scarce it might end up in a cameo holder one day. I wonder how it looks in hand? I would certainly pay a premium for that one though I do think proof walkers have gotten too expensive in the past couple of years.

No. There's no contrast on the sun, and questionable contrast on the upper obverse. The reverse is pretty solid. The sale price on this one will be a statistical outlier among prices realized for other 42 Proof Walkers, though.

Yep the frost break on the sun will stop it from being cameo i think to. It may look better in hand though.

On most proof Walkers with some cameo contrast the sun is brilliant. I used to say no proof Walker had any frost on the sun until I viewed the frostiest proof Walker I ever saw. The sun on that one (labeled Cameo) is nowhere near as frosty as the rest of the devices though it does exhibit a hint of frost. So I don't believe the lack of frost on the sun should or would affect the possibility of a cameo designation.

THe obverse doesn't get the job done, but the reverse is pretty close.

Extraordinary Walker... very, very nice... I do not think it will go cameo.. but Carl's opinion should be listened to. Could be worth a try... Cheers, RickO

Nice proof Walker, but a no-go on cameo at PCGS.

    I agree with Carl.

Nice reverse on the coin. Heck, nice obverse too!... just not enough to Cameo. It would probably star at NGC.

Might make it at NGC...they don't seem to be as tough on the CAM designation...I once bought a 1938 Lincoln proof from jwcameo on eBay in a PCI PR-67 DCam holder. It had light contrast, but had some flyspecks on the reverse, so I decided to crack it out and send it to NCS for the spots and then on to NGC for grading. I figured it would end up in a PR65 or 66 holder. Boy was I surprised when it came back a 65 CAM!

Thanks for your thoughts, everyone. It's a nice coin, no doubt. It will be interesting to see how much it brings. And...congrats on your 38 proof Lincoln Cmerlo1, that's quite a find. You never know...

A LOT, apparently. I thought it was pretty ironic that after all of the excitement on this thread -- and I bid on it too -- it didn't even sell.

But we'll have another chance... right?
