How do you handle those individuals who violate the buy, sell & trade forum rules?
Every couple weeks there seems to be a individual or 2 that can't follow the forum rules regarding multiple posts and multiple TTTs. How would you handle it? Yesterday (9-17-07) it was SanctionII TTTing every hour (Several posts in that thread have since been removed). I was just curious as to how everyone felt regarding this?

1. Make them digitaly sign a statement saying they have read the rules.
2. warn them when they breat the rules.
3. suspend them for repete violations.
4. Give them the boot, kick them out, block their IP address.

The rules are at the top of the BST forum in a post by the sports moderator.
There does not seem to be anything regarding TTTing multiple times in one day but I have seen people jump on forum members like lions on a gazelle when this occurs.
Frankly, I would like to see what the rule is on this as well from the sports moderator?

brash ways of correcting a board violation leads to the mischaracterization of this place (by some) as a board frequented by a bunch of arrogant bahsturds; they aren't up to speed on some of the rude behavior some of us use in the first place!
just stop for a minute and think, "Is there a way I could phrase this more politely?" Think of the audience you are addressing.
perhaps I'm not seeing this problem correctly?
The board really seems self policing. When there is a violation they are told. I dont normally see it being repeat offenders, just someone learning how it works or is just to anxious to sell a coin.
I dont know why someone would TTT every hour like I have seen happen. Once it drops of the first page I could see it, but every hour gives no benefit.
<< <i>some people in a rush to police the bst board are a bit overdemanding; they could just ask instead of demand; so often the person in violation is a newbie and doesn't know where to find operating instructions

Hubird,
You make some excellent points. I agree, if someone is new they should be given some slack ( I consider a newbie less than 6 months or 100 posts).
For those new individuals I have no issue sending a PM saying (and I have): "Please don't take this the wrong way. But to keep within the rules of this forum and as a professional courtesy to other members you should only post one thread regarding what you are selling and TTT it once every 24 hours. Thank you and good luck with your sales"
At the same time the "PLEASE READ*****MULTIPLE THREADS********* " at the top of the thread is kind of eye catching but again I think a mulligan is allowed for the newbie.
The individual used as an example in this thread has been on the forum for 3 years and has over 3000 posts. If they met what I considered the newbie criteria I would have not singled them out (If you feel that 3 years and 3000 posts still meets the newbie criteria please let me know). I am not being sarcastic here I am willing to listen.
Anytime someone like you is able to offer a new opinion it has the potential to change perception and I invite that.
That is why I posted this thread. My goal on this thread was to get the opinion of the group. There are a couple of very agnostic answers as well as strict answers to truly get the opinion of the forum.

Yep
The written/unwritten rule is one TTT per day just as a matter of courtesy to everyone else. Bask in the "old" days, some of thse guys would be TTTing every hour on the hour. It was crazy.
Thanks for checking

how about the rule to list "eBay" in your title if you are trying to sell/advertise something on ebay? It can't just be in your text, it HAS to be in your title. Rule. where's that rule listed for newbies?
Its not coin related

No kidding. What's his name's still whining that eBay's slow, but what about here? Miss Manners would be pleased.

IMHO if you see someone violating the rules and you want to send a "Friendly" PM to remind them, fine. Other then that, let the Moderators take care of it, it is what they are there for. If you had sent a "Friendly" PM and the situation wasn't corrected and it was that big of a deal to you then PM one of the Moderators and let them take care of it.
"who cares" vote here, brother. I figure it's a PCGS problem. I got enough on my plate worrying about where ol' curly's next MPL will come from.

Actually I post on these boards often and follow the rules. I expecty others to do the same. Anytime one posts on these boards it increases site traffic considerably for the next 90 to 180 minutes depending on the time of day.
The further you are pushed down the less traffic you receive. It my not be important to those of you who just collect but it is important to those of us who collect and sell.

Read my post above when someone is posting 12 times a day it is an issue!

If it's a newbie, I politely PM them and explain the guidelines.
If it's an experienced forumite, I call them on it publicly and expose them for the greedy, self-centered jerks that they are.
That's how I handle it.

If my sig line is illegal let me know. I think everyone knows my opinion so I will take a seat on the bench regarding this topic.
Thank you for your feedback. One of the reasons I posted the poll was to see if others felt the same way as I did.

it was just an FYI. I don't care how big it is. Don't take this stuff so serious. It's a message board. Rules are made to be broken and someone will ALWAYS oblige. Whatcha gonna do, ya know?

I read your post a second time, it still sounds like you can't mind your own business and it is not an issue to me! Like I said before, send them a "Friendly" PM and if that doesn't work then PM the Moderator.
I love it when some people complain about someone else breaking the rules and they don't look in the mirror at them selves
Actually, that is not the case. Sigline links have always been acceptable. Initiating a thread here, showing a coin, and offering it for sale is not considered acceptable. As always, common sense and common courtesy should prevail. It is not courteous for someone to monopolize the BST for himself, while bumping other people out of the way. Since this impolite behavior is common on the bourse, I am not surprised that we see it frequently here.
