    I believe it.
So many people have complained, for a LONG time now, that this makes sense.
While it affects trustworthy sellers, it is likely directed at some of the scammers and lower lifeform sellers.

I'm fine with it as I do it anyway and I appreciate seeing the full pic.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

That rule has been in effect for some time now. If you quote a grade, you must show the slab.....(even if it is only a Coin World slab)

Yet you can buy a generic slab and call it ABC grading and use any number you want.

Why would you not show the label?

I thought the same thing? So as long as the coin is housed in a slab. you can assign any grade you want?

This is supposed to tighten things up, explain Meg? So ABC, WCG, SGS, GEC, ICCG can continue to mislead buyers with pipe dream grades?

check this out, there is no reason these should have been pulled. So much for the ANA talking with ebay to clean things up and keep the good sellers there, and booting the bad ones.

Ebay pulled some of my auctions and then personally called me to say "sorry...but we had to do this".

  • I have not included an image of the slab but merely reference the holder number in my description. I rather put another close-up image of the coin rather than waste an image on a slab. I have not had any issues with potential buyers and when asked, which is seldom, will provide an image of the full slab.

What about using a TruView™ image in lieu of a slab?

I know there is one book I always enjoyed reading. I think eBay's law dept ought to read it. It's called the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Commonly referred to as UCMJ

Fair is fair. Too bad it doesn't apply across the board. But for those who operate in it's parameters, it's easy enough to get around.

I agree 100% all they are doing is killing the real sellers, and letting the crooks get away! Real images of real coins rarely include a full slab shot! You are not buying the plastic are you? YUK!

I guess eBay pretty much ignores individual reports and does nothing until they get multiple complaints.

I agree, and for that reason I didn't used to include slab images in my auctions. But, with all the label design changes PCGS and NGC went through, I started getting a lot of requests for images of the slab. Because of that I started including them a couple years ago.

Poorguy - I'm glad I anticipated that mountain of revamping I would have had to do to.

I'm in the minority here, full slab imaging has been my mantra for years.

We know what the label & slab should look like.

An enhanced coin image is tougher to judge.

Against the backdrop of the label and slab an enhanced coin image becomes very obvious.

Photographers like Poorguy have nothing to worry about image

Kudos to EBAY. There are no foolproof methods to detect enhanced imaging, but this helps.

  • Show me where it says PCGS on the front of the slab on an old rattler. image Oh yeah, how about that!

Keep that in mind when you're listing coins. EBay pulled one of my listings once on a PCGS rattler because they couldn't verify that it was real. Why? Well because it didn't say PCGS on the label. It took me a month to get the listing restarted by them. image

So not only do you need a full image of the slab label on the front, for a rattler, you need a full reverse image of the label too.

On second thought, it might be easier to just shove some pocket change into coinworld slabs and give em' all a MS70 PQ LQQK!!!!

A very good point. It's difficult for a loser scam artist who has a serious lack of training in image manipulation to alter the image of a coin in the slab without making the slab look obviously screwed with.

While this is a RARE occasion, I'm in agreement with eBay on this change. I understand that some people don't want to deal with inserting another picture into their listings but the slabs are there to protect the consumer. If there is no image of the slab in the listing, where is the confidence? It's just good practice to show the whole thing. Nothing bad can come of it short of the work it would take for someone like me to go and add slab images to every listing for 550+ coins. If you have to pay for extra pictures, why not host them on an online server for a few bucks a month? If anyone needs help doing this, feel free to drop me an email or call me and I'll direct you to some very good online hosting services.
