Does anyone else think this place is a lot different with a lot of different posters than it was 2 y

I was looking through my PM history and saw a lot of names of people I knew that I realized don't post here any more. It kind of made me image. I don't know why they don't post any more. Maybe they got banned or maybe they don't like the forum anymore or maybe they don't collect any more. I don't know, but, I do know that I miss a lot of those people and all the things I learned about coins from them.

I'm not saying I don't like the current forum or the current posters, I just miss some of my old friends.

the main person i notice missing on a daily basis is Mr Feld.

moderns seem to bring in more new people every day,
    as does the investment angle.

as for the people in my priv message list, 99% are still here.

This place isn't half as good as it was before they bammed coinguy1 and Conder.

Definately a new mix of posters. A bit different topics and a little less depth from what interests me, but you just have to pick your spots.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

I just took a trip back in my PM box and have 308 different people I've PM'd. Most are gone it seems. We still have a good group, but the feel and topic depth is not the same. Of course there are a few series topics that have set a new level of 'spread the knowledge' that are very impressive IMO i.e. the bust half series.

It'll continue to be interesting, year after year after year. Then some of us will get sick. Some will die. Some will get ripped off. Some will hit the big time and get rich. Some will continue to make you mad. Some will make you laugh. Some that made you mad will become friends. Some that were friends will make you mad.

I appreciate what I've learned here and I also appreciate people's general willingness to help when I ask a serious question for informational purposes. This forum is truly a valuable resource, and PCGS is quite generous in hosting it.

I enjoy being able to express my opinions passionately about topics where I feel that I can contribute. Many times, it's an exercise in restraint - and that's especially good for me.

It's sometimes strange to be in a position where I might actually be able to lend perspective to a discussion, but as you get a little older that's a realization that occurs. It's good to know that YNs comingle here with seasoned veterans - it's good for the YNs, good for the veterans, and good for the hobby, in my opinion.image

Between PCGS almost shutting the board down, and Legend on hiatus, the tone has changed greatly.

Fortunately we still have RWB, Rittenhouse, Pistareen, Denga, etc., and as long as those guys are around I will be listening!

This forum changes every few months. Last year, it seemed to be dominated by "flippers" who were gloating over their big profits on certain 2006 US Mint issues. In the last two months, or so, these folks seemed to have disappeared...a clear sign that their "flipping" efforts with 2007 issues haven't gone so well. (I suspect many of these folks are now stuck with large quantities of the 2007 issues and are afraid to sell for fear of pushing the prices down to issue price or lower. If they aren't able to sell, they aren't going to have the money (or interest) to buy more new issues.)
    All glory is fleeting.

I still enjoy the forum very much but I do miss some of the posters who got banned or just decided to leave because of it. One guy I miss besides several that has already been mentioned is Bill Jones. He always had a lot of common sense.

The new Mint issues flipping market was not thriving two years ago. When that market dies, which could be any day now, a lot of the new folks will disappear with it.
