Scam Auction ? or Buy It Now Steal?

1951 Bowman Mantle PSA 6
What are the chances that was legit? The card looks fake to me. Would sure be sweet to score a PSA 6 Mantle for that price though.

PSA cert # appears to be for a 9, not a 6. Probably a photshop job on the flip. I wouldn't want to be the one who bought it, Paypal protection stops at $200.

allen, it reminds me of a switch to the 51 bowman mystery redemption card from 2005 or 06? ,it is way too clean to be that old to me, id like to see the back of it!

This same guy also has a Rolex for sale. For some reason, that sends off red flags.

Yeah it was sold when I linked to it and started this thread. I would never buy that card with a wrong cert # from an ebayer whos been on less than a month and sells rolexs too haha.

Not a psa holder, there's no notches in the side. All of my cards in psa holders have little notch squares on the outside, also when blown up I can't see the little psa logo on the bottom. Sure hope he uses a credit card for that one! And also for the 53 topps mantle he also sold!
    At least it was cheap?

Outside of the low feedback and other warning signs that have been mentioned...

I think you have to question someone selling some high profile cards at a fix priced auction Significantly under market value. image

The sellers return policy is "if item is returned within 7 days from purchase and was not discribed correctly in the discription then money will be refunded"

What are the chances that he stands by the policy!?

cert verification on the 53 topps shows it to be a PSA 10

Seems like this scammer took a page out of the "Tonis Cards" chapter - Phony scan then offer it at a high selling price but still well below even an average ebay selling price, and then wait to reel in a sucker. It worked...for now...until this POS hopefully winds up in jail. Of course he'll clean out his PayPal account, probably lives in an apartment and intends to move shortly to another state whereby he'll perpetrate the same scam over again with a different ebay name. Yes, the buyer maybe gets his money back if paying through a credit card, but credit card fees go up again to us to cover the cost of paying off these thieves.

Thanks very much, boss. I do really appreciate ebayers looking out for other ebayers, and try to do the same myself. On this one, I was already aware. I bought it, but asked for a different pic b4 paying. He sent one, and I checked out the cert #, finding what you found. When he didn't hear from me for a day, and a hadn't paid (having since discovered the scam and reported him to ebay for investigation) he sent me a cancel the sale notification trying to get his ebay charges back. He claimed he decided to send it in for regrading. I replied: Why bother.....it's already a 10 isn't it? Since then, nothing from him, but I sure haven't paid.
Again, thanks very much....keep looking out for others!
