Around 1990 I had a UNIX PC, made by AT&T. The only PC that ran native UNIX (not Linux). Slow as molasses with a 68020.

Unfortunately, I ended up using it for a boat anchor. Probably should've kept it. Sure to be a collectors' item some day. image

I put down my vote for XP which I use most of the time, but I also have a laptop running Vista. I see no advantages of Vista over running Firefox browser on XP.

your macs are basically a nix variation. a mach microkernel that
was designed to fit inside freebsd.

i agree IE7 and vista is a poor poor upgrade.

so much power in a mac box now days. all the power of unix
and the applications in a mac. now with intel! woo woo

Personally, I use Microsoft Excel 4.0 from 1993 and believe it or not, I love it! The only thing I'd really like to have is the ability for a single file to have multiple spreadsheets so I could separate my coins by series a bit easier.

    2) Drive old car, no payments.
    3) Search, search, and search again.
    4) Keep beer cold.

Thats about it without going into boring details. image

At The ANA we use XP :-( There are a few departments that use Macs and there are a few "Lampshade" Macs sitting, unused, in the building.

At home I have a 20'' Core 2 Duo 2.16 iMac Running OSX 10.4.10 and I am purchasing the new QUAD Core iMac that will be out August 7th. It will be in a thin stainless-steel case.

I have NEVER had OSX crash on me. EXAMPLE; If you've ever built a web-page you should know how many different files go into it. I have accidentally selected all of my files for one of my web-pages (Word, Excel, Flash 8, Notes, Photoshop, Images, iMovie, Safari, Firefox etc) and opened them all at once. NOW, on a PC the darned thing would have to be either trashed or restarted with loss of data. On my Mac it all opens! It is quite the site to see.

My setup (SEE PIC); I have a Dell Axim x51v handheld (not bad but on its way out), my iMac, iPhone, Bluetooth headset (for free internet calls), my favorite stapler, 500gig hard drive and a dirty plate from the Chicken Pot Pie I had for dinner (I should have gone to the Henderson Club dinner tonight but had too much to do at home!).

In the other room I have my cable modem, connected to an AT&T Internet phone system, connected to my Airport Extreme (Running 802.11N, 12 times faster than G) with a 500 gig Hard drive mirrored with another 500 gig hard drive.

In the front room I have a Mac Mini with an LCD television and a Wii.

With the new Airport Extreme I can access all of the files on that 500 gig HD from anywhere in the house (or down from FOUR blocks away). I stream movies from it to play on the TV or the wife can use her Intel 4 Dell (she gets my current Mac when I get the new one) to access everything too.

I read this post on my iPhone (See pic).

All of this tech really helps me keep track of people, coins and life in general.

Oh, and by the way... Win Vista is a bad copy of Mac OSX. When the new OSX comes out Mac will again be five to seven years ahead of Micro.

Oh, and for the Apple II user... I MET the guy that designed that motherboard! He worked for Apple from 80 to 99! He was cool, he owns a local antique store! I bought his Apple Pin and Cross Pen from him!

<< <i>Ok Russ I'm putting you down as "Vista Pro" >>

    Vista blows chunks.

    Russ, NCNE >>

YES IT DOES....Although for future games coming out Like Crysis it is a necessity. To get a good feel and dx10 You need Vista.

I must say though...I am amazed at how many people on here have very slow systems lmao. My comp is only a year old (was about $2500) and is way too slow for me. In a month or so I will part it out and build a whole new one to keep competitive in the gaming world. image

Craig, that is a brilliant deduction as it applies to relativity image. I was reminded suddenly of Gilda Radner. Do you remember her ? She used to do a spoof on Barbara Walters on Saturday Nite Live.

She called her Bah Bah Wah Wah...
Imagine her saying in that voice:
