I wonder how many other people seen this one coming,,,??.. I've heard over the last six months that PCGS would not be issuing a 70 for the Unc's.. I thought, how could they know that!!!!.. Very peculiar... So,,, now we have THE SUPER KEY,!!!!!!!... everyone will be drooling over. image , I wonder who needed some money real bad.. Every series HAS to have it's Super Key.. Hey,, Look at the 2001 Proof Sacagawea,, oooohhhh, it's the key date,, at over two million minted,, image .. Why Now,???, After thousands of them has been submitted, why just now,???.. How could there only be 'One' up until Now,???... I wonder if I submitted my MS69 unc. 62X's, if it will recieve a 70,???.. image . Hey,, The Dam has Broke,, Maybe this will drive up the submissions of the unopened silver sets now in hopes of recieving this coveted 70 label... hmmmm... image... got to go back to imageimageimage

i'm sure the line of thinking was; "hey, are submissions are slipping and our report to the stockholders is due soon. Go to the the forums and tell the lemmings that we'll now grade their UNC bullion at MS70, and watch the crack-outs and submissions come pouring in!"

i can't wait to see the population reports of these coins a year from now

It's at least three now because I have one and it ain't on the 'Bay

Or with the 69 DCAM and 69PR that came with it, other than that I don't see a reason to sell it with other "70's"

11768607 is the cert # of my MS70

I am not biting , this could be the beginning of an avalanche of these coins, didnt pcgs have an official statement that there would not be any 70s until the milk spot issue had been solved, does this mean no more milkspots on silver eagles?
    Buy the dips!!!

no, it most certainly does not.

milk spots are on some MS W's 2006 and 2007. ....Reverse proofs and proofs, too

You are very right. Most of the ones I have in either PF or MS are 69's.... Did get one 70 today and 7 69's on various ASE's just back from grading. It will make it cheaper and easier for most to afford them also

PCGS Population for 2006-W MS70 is low, but it is NOT 2.

    9996 is 8
    89990 is 7
    89991 is 3

    Total, 18 so far.image

$5500 was the top one. The market softened a bit after that, because another one sold for about $4000 shortly after.

That's funny. When I type in 89990 on the pop report (the 20th ann #) it says there are only 2 MS70. Not sure where you got 7.

jawapez - You have to learn how the system works or "you will always be a day late and a dollar short". The people bidding on eBay are betting that the population in MS70 will be low on the 2006-W, PCGS doesn't update the pop reports until the beginning of the week and that is what the eBay sellers are banking on. Information or lack there of will save or cost you money, so learn the system. If you want the most accurate numbers for a graded coin by PCGS, then search the "Registry" sets, know if there is more then one PCGS coin number for a particular coin. Example, the 2006-W uncirculated silver eagle, there are three different PCGS coin numbers for this coin,9996, 89990, and 89991. look at this set in the Registry for number 9996 and you will see a pop of 8 better then the MS69 that is listed in the set. Look at this set for number 89990 you will see a pop of 7 better and this set for coin number 89991 will show a pop 3 better then the MS69 that is displayed in that set.

Raw and 69 20th anny ASE sets are sliding hard. This MS70 opportunity is really quite serendipitous... and possibly the last chance at a bailout for those who shelled out $8000 for sealed boxes of ten sets.

I kinda dought it.. I would imagine the sealed boxes will be going up for the ones who will be looking for the MS70's and have the 20th. Ann. designation..

PCGS made a statement, after they had told some dealers already, that they would start granting MS70 for the 2006-w and 2007-w SAEs a few weeks back. End of June if I recall.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

But... what I mean is that the MS70 designation may be worth big money for only a short period of time. Given that the 07-W is enjoying a relatively large number of 70s, I imagine that the 06-Ws will likewise see big growth in the numbers of 70s. At that point, prices will drop, just like they did for RPs in 70.

I do agree with you that the window is opening up wide for those sealed boxes. I think it will close relatively quickly, though.

Yes, however, you will see the prices of the 2006 W Unc continue to climb over all. They have held firm all of June and July and have enven risen through all of June. The 2007 W continue to grow in Mintage, and the 2006 W Unc continues to look to be the King of the series.

As far as sealed sets go? The ONLY reason to buy them is for the 70 potential and to get consecutive Coins in the Sets (sequentially Numbered). I am suprised at the number of folks who do want these! (Sequential Serial Numbers either PCGS or NGC).

PCGS will sequentially number if you ask - I believe you may resubmit for new holdering and ask for sequential numbering

They Will want the sealed sets to get the 20th. ann. designation on all three coins.. That is the only way to get it now is from sealed sets.... image

Yes! Three Coin Designation. I was going beyond that, but that is by far, the primary.

7/8 is also correct. I see a re-holder as worth it. Another thing is matching up the Mint Kits with all the parts:

Outer US Mint Plastic Bag w/ Holes - everyone throws this out not knowing this bag is part of the Set.
    the Certificate of Authenticity
the (2) part A10 US Mint Box (Lid and Base Box)
the A10 US Mint Slip Cover
    the White Lining Cloth
    the US Mint Display Case
the empty capsules that held the coins

The funny thing is that the 'scarcity' factor plays into the lable game, i.e. there is a shortage of 20th MS and 20th PR Coins to match up with the 250K RP coins. I've been scooping some of 20th MS and 20th PR Coins up as of late.
