I find it extremely odd that there is major silence being exercised on this platinum release right now. As if everyone is in hiding until AFTER THE SALE! Where's the popcorn????? This may get interesting!
P.S. - The Mint's website is not slow for me. Seems to be working fine.
A bit strange there is no link on the mint site under "American Eagles" that leads to the 2007 plats. It is still takes you to the 2006 plats. Fortunately, i saved the link from this thread that gets me to the 2007's. Just wondering if the general population will be able to get to the 2007's to place their orders. How did the poster of the 2007 plat link get to that page on the mint website?

They fixed the image of the platinum unc. 2007. Earlier this morning, both flavors had a picture of the proof. I think they are straightening this stuff out before the sale.
The 1/10 unc is in stock. I am not sure what coin is backordered. I did not ask about other coins. FYI, a phone order as I still have not been able to order via the internet.

Uncirculated Tenth-Ounce $189.95 N/A N/A
Uncirculated Four-Coin Set 2,769.95 N/A N/A
Note: Maximum mintages reflect the total number of individual product options and the coins included in the four-coin sets.
Orders for the platinum proof coins should be submitted early, as mintages are limited. There is no mintage limit for the platinum uncirculated coins. Household limits have not been set for these options. Additionally, the United States Mint reserves the right to limit quantities and may discontinue accepting orders at any time.
If I was ordering, I'd get the Proof because the Unc. is unlimited.
If the singles start selling out, I'll jump on the 4 coin set.
What were the limits for the 2006-W Uncircuated plats? I looked at the mint website this morning and didn't see any limits noted on the 2006-Ws, yet they were still sold out.

Either I'm missing something here, or I misread the sales figures for previous years. If the 2007's sell out, you'll have to go back to 1997 to find higher mintages. Unless sales are dismal, the 2007's won't be anything special.

Jim has a valid point here, however, if the demand has now been cultivated to be much greater then the additional pieces may be easily absorbed into the hobby/industry and prices may rise.
#25793XXX is one one ounce unc. Don't disclose your entire order number because anybody with knowledge of the number and your last name can go to the website and cancel your order!

However, now I did just buy some.
None. People thought they were hokey and didn't buy them. In Dec. people figured out they were low mintage and bought the remainders plus some.
So this year is essentially no different.

I doubt it - there are 5,000 Proof quarter-ounce coins and 10,000 proof sets...

In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
Let's see some unc. order numbers to try and gauge how they're doiing?
I just noticed that the web site no longer shows them as being back ordered.
